Worth buying at $5USD?
As per title, is this game worth the price for entry? I understand that you will gain items worth more when the game comes out, but at this current juncture is there an activ active playerbase during all hours of the day (I play at odd hours of the night/morning in US EST time zone).

Everything else looks interesting, but I'm tired of being burned by these damn early access multiplayer games that have no community, and seem like they aren't getting any where anywhere fast. On the other hand, I've seen a few gems in the early access games, so thus my question.

I would honestly wait until our upcoming June promotion comes online before making any decisions based on total population (via SteamCharts etc.)

We are, as with many Early Access titles, quite snugly populated at the moment, but that is at the behest of the debugging-centric developers themselves, and not because an open-doors invitation we had in the past was up until now a complete failure or anything.

Hopefully, you can peruse the forums at your leisure and see that our devs are some of the most customer-conscious in the history of gaming, and our community easily the friendliest in the history of ARTS games ;D

I would have written earlier but any answer I gave would have been quite biased :)

Well one of my earlier purchases that I spoke of that can go either way is Kingdom's Rise. The game is amazing fun.... when there are people online, and I can honestly say that the devs do seem active witht he community and really seem to care. At the same time though, they push out a patch maybe once every 3 months, and even then it is minimal content (it is a 2 man team, so I can udnerstand), so people have basically left the game. Many of us have gotten together and try to create fight nights were we can all play, but there are so few of us left and we are scattered to the four winds that our pings are just generally outrageous in some cases.

It would have been biased, but I always welcome dev comments, as they show that the developer really cares about their community and wants to succeed. Just because you took the time to post this, I'll go ahead and pick this game up friday. I'm sure I can find a way to have $5USD worth of fun out of it.

I would wait, as much as I like the game there is still alot to be wanting in this title. The devs are amazing people but I still stick by my point of the MM system is bogus because of the low pop.

As I have told my other moba buddies "Wait til full release". Another issue currently is people will dodge matches if they don't get the team they want, throw matches if they are teamed with someone they hate and people that afk/leave when the game is not going their way. None of these offenses have any "serious" punishment in my opinion, no more then the equivalent of a wave of the finger and a "tsk tsk".

Check out the Release Notes section of this Discussions forum to see the frequency and depth of patches from this particular developer. Pretty unprecedented stuff ;D
The current $4.99 purchase does include a $5.99 skin and some crafting material that can be sold on the Steam Market or be traded.

Yes the player base is small at the moment and there may be some queue time issues, but it can only get better. As Exorcised said, the upcoming June promotion will hopefully solve the player base issues.

Your best bet is to check back here daily or sign up for the Soada newsletter at http://sinsofadarkage.com/ to make sure that you get the latest news and updates!

Don't worry, just having one of the devs come on here as quickly as he did, tells me that you guys care about the game (just like Kingdom's Rise devs do, they are just a tiny team). So you have my money next friday.

This game is awesome. I don't always have time for gaming, but when I do, I play Sins of a Dark Age"

Sin responsibly my friends....

if you want to play at any time of day it can be tricky for you but if you are here at right hour when lot of ppl is online you will have great time... until then you can learn some basics with bots. They are not very smart but you can familiarize yourself with heroes and items at least.

Also community and Dev team here are the best ones i have seen in ARTS genre and i was Beta-testing 2 ARTS games and played all 3 big ones so i should know xD

This is getting off-topic, but the presence of devs and mature people on the forums was one of the main selling points to me. This might change once the game gets bigger, but the reason why I don't play Dota 2 anymore is the mind-boggling community and Valve's conservatism (no surrender, poor supports etc) wich might be better with devs that are "at hand".

Just to let you know, SoaDA is on sale for 50% ($2.50) off along with the 4 pack ($7.50) :)
Fyst  [developer] Jun 19, 2014 @ 10:43am
Also, I couldn't say anything yesterday but even if you don't think its worth $5, Soada is now part of the Summer Steam Sale at 50% off.

No likelihood of a flash sale? It's already low enough for the four pack but getting burned by purchase before flash sale is not a good feel :(
Ekko Tek Jun 20, 2014 @ 10:25pm
By "burned" you mean paying $2.49 instead of like $1.99?
