Steel Storm: A.M.M.O.

Stuck loading map
Havin' trouble loading a map. It takes forever to load the *.bsp.
If I look at the process it's just increasing RAM usage little by little, and I end up killing it past 550 MB allocated, because nothing is happening in the game itself.

which map are you trying to load?
Do you have a web browser or any other major ram users running?
This happens when I try to host map Canyon Alpha09.
I closed everything else, Firefox, etc.

If I try Canyon Alpha11, I get past the loading screen and reach the console before the game crashes.

What CPU/RAM/Videocard/VRAM?
Athlon 64 FX-60, 2GB RAM, Radeon HD 2600 XT 512MB

hm. That is a bit low RAM for this game, at least so far.

Need to adjust the system requirements up a bit, though we are also looking at adding some smaller maps in the next 3 months or so if all goes as planned.
I dont think its the RAM, 8 GB ram here, loading alpha11 peaks at 850MB but drops to 650MB usage after short while, which 2 GB ram should handle.

One thing to try - just to see if it helps at all - try turning on Netbook mode and/or turning down graphical settings if you haven't already tried that.

I'd expect a 2600 to handle it but ... maybe not.

Do you have burning retribution? Do you get the same problem there?
