why is this classified as an RPG?
just saying, i own it on ipad and its basically just a fancy solitaire game.

you roll the dice for your stats and then you just flip cards and hope you make it past all the encounters on the cards.
I lose 95% of the time, which is understandable for a solitaire card game.

its a good game but why are they calling it an RPG? its not an RPG

I'm not sure what other genre it could be put in: strategy? Casual? Or is there an actual 'Card game' one?

Id agree.... its more adventure than RPG. There are no RPG elements other than inventory management. You may roll up a character but you dont earn experience or level up and assign stat points. And you can only play 1 role in game if you count that.

It is tough to categorise, it is based on a very unique card game. It's an RPG in the sense to play a role and roll a character and have an inventory. We can see the argument for it being Adventure too however... Food for thought...

You have a character whose stats you roll up randomly. You have an inventory which you have to manage. You roll dice to deal with random encounters. By the standards of 1987, when Chainsaw Warrior was published as a boardgame by GW, those were pretty much the be all and end all of RPGs. It's an RPG in the same way that a Choose Your Own Adventure or Fighting Fantasy book is, or Hero Quest and Space Crusade.
