C++ Runtime error when starting Damned
I've just installed Damned after purchasing it from the Steam sale and the game won't start.

I've been through previous threads and here's what I've done:

1. I've verified the files through steam
2. I've reinstalled Damned
3. I've re-installed Python, both through the redistribution package with the game and from the Python.org website. I've tried both x86 and x86_64 Python installs with no luck.
4. I've tried to modify the C:\ProgramData\Damned\setup.cfg file, but that directory and file doesn't exist. I'm guessing it's not been created since it never makes it through the initial startup.
5. I've tried running C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Damned\damned_reset_fix.bat, but it failes with the following message:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Damned>rd /S /Q C:\ProgramData\Damned
The system cannot file the file specified

Which makes sense since I mentioned in bullet 4 that that directory has never been created.

Please don't aske me to verify or reinstall. I've done that numerous times with no change. I've paid for 4 copies of a game so that my friends and I can enjoy it and, right now, I can't even get the thing to *start*. There's numerous other similar issues being posted on this forum and the developer hasn't don't much to actually support the product, except to say "reinstall".

Below is the last 10 lines of the Damned.log file. The full log can be found here http://pastebin.com/WA5jmtuC

This is why you crashed according to this specific crash log. What confuses me is that when I looked in the data_001 archive (where all the textures are located) I couldn't find that specific texture file. In theory, I should be crashing too, but im not, so I have no idea why :(

C:\ProgramData is a hidden folder on Windows. That's why it seems like it's not there. See link below:

If you still can't find it, then that's another problem.

I can find the C;\ProgramData directory, there just isn't a folder for Damned in it. The first thing I always do on a clean install is to set Explorer to show file extensions and hidden directory/files.

The missing Damned folder in ProgramData tells me that the initial configuration isn't getting saved because of the crashing app. According to you, it's because of missing textures, but that seems odd in light of your experience.

I do appreciate the reply, though. Hopefully the dev is working on a fix to this, because I see lots of these scattered through the discussion forum with lots of "me, too" replies to them.

@9heads Any reply to this? I've provided as much information as I can and I still am unable to play a game that I've paid for.
