How much does it differ from Airland Battle?

Instead of the standard "is it worth it" thread I'll ask a question: how much does it differ from Airland Battle?

Note: Mentioning the new factions does not count.

I wanna know too. I bought airland battle for $30, this game came out a week or two later, now airland battle multiplayer is DEAD

Yeah if this one is too similar to the last two then I'll just wait a few months for a better deal. A lot of the appeal is that China and North Korea are present but I look past that.

Naval which competitive players never play because it's not well thought out.

If you don't play with the ships, it's basically ALB with more players and more Units, right now the balance is screwed to hell but is getting fixed when the free DLC comes out in a few weeks.

I've played 996 hours in ALB, and I honestly don't enjoy RD as much at this point, in fact i've stopped playing until the DLC comes out.

However, for a new player in the series, you might as well get RD because you get more, and there's more people playing.

Big differences are naval combat and the terrain. The former has so much potential but they're still trying to get that fixed. The latter has made maps feel a lot better for me as the terrain is more natural as opposed to those rises in the past two games. Outside of that there's different factions but it doesn't really change gameplay.

The deck building user interface has improved a lot as well. And I like the bonus systems for national or specialized decks.

Campaign is quite different too from what I've seen. Different take on things anyway.

I thought that ALB was more vehicle based (tanks, IFVs, etc) and artillery was much more deadly. RD is more infantry focused and whoever wins the naval fight has a huge advantage for the rest of the match. Overall they feel very different to me.

Not much has changed. Unless you want to support the devs or just want the game now, wait for a better deal I guess.
EDIT: Amphibious tanks are in now. There are also fire support teams, infantry doesnt blob up in a perfect circle, and arty is allot stronger now. Navy is a mess and I'm not sure how they can fix it. Upcomming mechanics changes with the eastern bloc DLC is inbound but an exact date has not been announced. They have talked about changing the stun mechanics of autoloading tanks, and rebalancing the game to make it less infantry oriented. They are also adding anti ship coastal units, which were not present before. Singleplayer has had some significant improvements, to the point where it is more of a challenge and somewhat more enjoyable. The interface has been reworked and is way more convimient. Terrain has a more natural feel. Aaaaand they added small attack boats. That more or less sums up the changes.
Game still feels the same though, so like I said before, unless you want to support the devs or just cant wait to get the game, wait for a better price i suppose.

yeah It feels like they're just rushing content. I mean AL cam out what a year and a half ago? A best the should of just released and expansion.

True. Thanks for the update on this game. As I see it, it is not that much different than the previous two. The only thing that could make a difference is unbalanced and has failed. Will pass on this one or wait for a very good deal.

Yeah, had a lot of fun with the previous two, but RD is too similar for me to justify a purchase. It feels a bit like I'd pay only to get access to an online playerbase again. Might do that, but only when there's a very good deal on.
