What version to buy?

Is Red Dragon an ultimate version that will provide me with a full experience or do I have to buy two previous ones as well or I have some units locked for me or w/e?

depends if you go for multiplayer or more singleplayer

Multiplayer mostly. I may play a campaign of two but then I plan to focus solely on MP.

Then you want Red Dragon, most active and populated multiplayer. You get all the same units to use as everyone else does, and don't get anything special by buying EE or ALB.

Of course if you find the single player missions topb e fun, then you would want tog et EE and ALB for the campaigns.
