If I find a picture of a US soldier with an M4A1, does that mean that it is the only weapon in US service?

What now? This game isnt set now, some of the units in it are much older and the Koreans did use the M14
Serzhant Patapov Jul 4 @ 5:29am
OK first off weapon in picture is a M1 Carbine, not a M-14. South Korean Reserve and Security units use the M1 Carbine, as well as many police departments. The M1 Carbine first showed in South Korea in 1950 as the US rushed surplus WW2 era weapons to South Korea after the North invades. The smaller M1 Carbine was a better fit for the smaller frame of the average South Korean soldier than the M1 Garand or later the M-14. The M14 is in the Korean Army but more a ceremonial weapon for Flag and Honor Guards than a field weapon. Not to say units never used them in the field.

I'm not sure that they're overrated, and I think that you're a troll, as 10¢ is below South Korea's minimum wage.
Znail Jul 4 @ 10:41pm
I thik that SK have mandatory military service, so the "salary" is less then a normal wage. But there are also perks like free meals, housing, travel, medi care etc. So the "salary" is just for luxuries as all the basic needs are taken care of.
HARDGORE Jul 5 @ 12:21am
znail thats not true for soldiers. only officers can take such benefit.
and soldiers dont go officer. because thats wrong path in south korea.

you might tink again. even the tank k1a1 were deployed after 2001 how is not overrated? ok i know its stupid game
but its too stupid to think the wooden rifle might be m14
south korea don't use m14 whatsoever especially the yaebigoon. as IRDCAM said carbine more fits better on koreans and they dont like recoil of 30cal
the amount of wage may sounds crazy for you because you are not korean thats how you cant imagine or understand why country like north korea still exist. but thats what koreans can. no doubt south koreans equals north koreans. because they are koreans. lot of contribution to south just changed their wealth but their mind isnt. if those facts are think of troll then korea is troll dungeon
i will see how many ignorants will against fact
maybe some stereotypical ignortants have some fantasy of east asians just because of japan and they probably think south korea is strong lol
to tell one more thing
i was been there... in year 2006 and 50$ was monthly wage for each of them. and k1 k2 m16 was the rifles being all i saw. if you become yaebigoon you will certainly see the ww2 carbine as they got plenty of it.

developers of the game need to know how big mistake they did
and why south korea more behave like red dragon? are you sure south is blue? even they hate japan so much?

to explain the shiny orange clothing
they are surrounded by barbwire fences. that means they can't go home until their duty is done.
their duty explains the wage

As I have pointed out in the games timeframe the south korean army used m14's which the americans had supplied them when they were in vietnam. And whilst Japan and south korea do have a dislike if a conflict against china and/or North Korea occured it would be a case of 'The Enemy of my enemy is my friend'. Furthermore start using reputable sources.

The SK dislike for Japan is a recent thing that happened after the time frame of this game.
HARDGORE Jul 5 @ 3:39am
whatever korean army dont use m1 garand and m14 after m16 released they are replaced during vietnam war
but they keeping plenty of carbine for 예비군

and you can copy paste the word " 예비군 칼빈 " on google and hit enter you will see something.

the dislike for japan thats not recent thing. they always been hate japan after americans arrived. to appeal they are innocent victim. and the kids drawing is result of their brainwash from long time ago

The Blog is from 2011, how is that proof of something not being recent?

The Korean peninsula was occupied by Japan from 1905/7 until 1945. North Korea/South Korea did not exist as a seperate entities until post WW2. And it was the usual post war UN you (Soviet) get half, and the west got half. Soviet troops entered Korea late Aug 45, and post war the 38th Parallel became the new boundry between the Koreas. Korea after the occupation based on the Japanese behavior during the occupation never really got along with Japan post war, and in many cases till this day.

Stationed at Camp Hovey, South Korea 1977, we had a contingent of KATUSA (Korean Augmentation To US Army) with us. They had seperate barracks as well as seperate mess facilities. And as a courtesy they could use our mess halls. And they never seemed 'starved' or unhappy with thier lot in life as military service at the time was mandatory. KATUSA's had it better than regular SK troops but we never was a serious issue with the morale or physical appearence of the SK troops and we interacted all the time. When we did our DMZ month SK Forces were right beside us and other than uniform and size of the troop, there was no difference. Understand even the US Military paid far less than the standard US economy 'minimum wage' as well, but we had 'free' no cost barracks and mess halls.

I never saw M-14's in the hands of SK Forces in SK while I was there the trasition to the M16 was complete in active forces, except for thier version of National Guard and Reserves which still carried the WW2 castoff M1 Carbine, M1 Garand, and BAR.
