SteamVR
MacOS SteamVR Beta
Now that MacOS High Sierra has been released i was hoping that SteamVR would allow me to run the VIVE headset.

As far as things go, it looks like the Vive runs nice and smooth, the headset, controllers and Lighthouses get recognised and tracked in the White Grid Room, but MacOS-SteamVR Beta seems broken.

First i get 'Enable Direct Mode' messages when i start up the MacOS-SteamVR Beta, which if i click to enable causes SteamVR to shut down with the promise of restarting but it fails to do so. Even if i try to enable direct mode in SETTINGS>DEVELOPER>ENABLE DIRECT MODE the result is the same shutdown.

Other errors i get are when i try to launch the SteamVR Tutorial...
"Could not start opener.tool.steamvr_tutorial. Error was VRApplicationError_UnkownApplication."

And when trying to run VR games
"An error occurred while updating 'game name' (missing executable)"

Was wondering if any other mac users or Developers could shed light on wether SteamVR is not yet ready for MacOS or if i've not done something vital to getting SteamVR to work on MacOS?

I'm in the same boat, although I've been using bootcamp for SteamVR over the last few months. Since it's been almost 2 weeks since High Sierra has been public, I wish they'd release a statement about the status of SteamVR Beta on MacOS. Such as, what's working, what's not, what's the roadmap for updates, etc.
Still struggling to find any mac developers who are succesfully getting steamvr to work with anything other than blobby tennis
I can't get it to show up in the headset at all. I just see the desktop screen.
I have the same problem. headset is tracking OK but image projects to the screen rather then to the headset. I have also tried the SteamVR Beta but I'm getting a file missing Error message and it does't run.
What to do ?
SweeperVR is working for me in addition to Blobby Tennis. Gravity Sketch was working for me for a few days, but something changed and now it just pops up in a window on the macbook pro screen. Most of the games that say they support VR and Mac don't seem to support VR ON mac.

The Steam interface pops up in the VR view when I push the button the Vive controller, but the movement is inverted vertically which makes it tricky to select things. You have to point to the bottom of the screen to select items at the top and vice versa. When selecting "desktop" it shows an inverted image of the desktop as well.

The Unity VR Samples did build and run for me so it seems possible to do dev work directly on the mac now.

I talked to a Steam person at GDC, and they said that there's a bug in how games are described in the store -- a lot of games that appear to be able to run on macOS and Vive (as well as Windows) can only really run Vive on Windows. However, he thought that Blobby Tennis was the only game that would run on macOS + Vive right now ... thanks for proving him wrong with SweeperVR, that increased by 100% the number of games I can play without having to resort to Boot Camp
