Vertical Axis Reversed in Linux
I finally managed to discover where the VR mode options hide and was able to get it launching in Linux.

Unfortunately, the Y axis is flipped, which makes navigating Big Picture in VR mode pretty difficult. The settings viewer in launched from SteamVR has things working normally, and other HMD friendly apps work fine.

Is anybody else seeing this behaviour?

Yes - it's the same here (late reply, I know).

I also can't get Big Picture or any of the HL games to display correctly in the Rift. Earlier in the year (Before VR in Big Picture was out for Linux), when switching to VR mode in a game, it switched automatically to the Rift - but now it's shown in a weird resolution in the top left corner of my main screen. Mirroring the screen also results in the wrong resolution.

I have a support case open with Steam Support, and it seems they want to help - but they have no idea what to do, so they just ask me to restart, opt into beta, opt out of beta, re-install and stuff like that.

So in short - Valves VR support for Linux sucks at the moment, it seems. Looking at ~/.steam/steam/vr/runtime/bin, they've got bash scripts with MS-DOS formatting - and apparently some missing libraries. It's a mess.

I'm hoping Valve/Joe will look into it soon.

I've previously been able to use VR mode in TF2 by launching it in-game (although it has some silly fullscreen requirements that make it a little less than practical), but yeah, some extra attention seems warranted.

Just thought I'd mention that VR in HL2 is working perfectly for me again. Using "vr_activate_default 0" in console fixed the issue where the game was shown on the wrong screen (I think that's what did the trick, anyway).

Big Picture movement in VR is still inversed, though.

The Steam client beta that was released this morning fixes the inverted pitch and roll problem in VR mode on OSX and Linux.

Sweet. Will check that out today and give some feedback :)

The inverted Y axis is sorted now. Having other problems (Valve games offering VR support only give me the option to launch in 2D and TF2 hangs when launched), but they're probably something for another thread ^_^

Thanks heaps!

The "Play in 2D" problem is fixed. I forgot to tell Steam that these games support VR.

TF2 doesn't hang for me when launched from VR mode, but it also doesn't start in VR mode. I'll take a look at that.

It seems to work now (although the load time feels significantly longer than launching TF2 from the desktop client). Could my hang perhaps have been caused by a http://steamcommunity.com/app/250820/discussions/0/522730535731363470?
