Wobbly jittery image when static: bad IMU?
A user posted this video of a wobbly/jittery image even when being in a static position.
Is this a symptom of a bad IMU or can this be calibrated/fixed?

Edit: problem persists even when placing the lighthouses on the floor.

The link you posted is bad. Lighthouses are supposed to be mounted above head level, not on the floor...

Mounting above head level, stand level or floor level produces the same result (that is why I said even)

Okay, but your link is still not a valid link

Fixed. It seems imgur doesn't like linking directly to the gifv.

I have the same issue. Lighthouses above head level but on camera tripods and not wall mounted. There is a slight jitter that makes me feel like i've been on a boat after i take the headset off. Can anyone else test this? Place the headset on the floor while in a game and look at the monitor - is the world perfectly still or not?

I have the same issue, I started this thread on reddit https://www.reddit.com/r/Vive/comments/4eek6n/vive_tracking_wobble/

Looks like a bunch of people are having the same problem. I have a SteamVR support ticket, haven't heard back yet. Someone messaged me and said they were trouble shooting with HTC support for four days before getting an RMA.

I think this could be related to a reflective floor. Do you have a wooden floor? I noticed that placing the controller or the HMD on the wooden floor results in a lot of jitter and even loss of tracking. I don't seem to have this issue when I'm actually wearing the HMD. I'll have to try placing something dark and non reflective on the floor and see if it improves anything.

For the folks in this thread having the wobble issue -

Please use "Record Tracking Data" under the "Developer" tab in settings to capture data about this issue. When you hit that button, it will prompt you for an output directory.

It helps if the recording is brief and clearly demonstrates the issue.

Once you have captured the issue, hit "stop recording."

The logs will be output as a PB file. Go to the URL below to create a support ticket with this in a Dropbox or Drive link so we can look into it.

Thanks!

As per your request I have recorded a number of captures, they can be found under my support ticket 5311-UOGX-1547. Please let me know if you need anything else.

Good to know you're working on it.

I've sent a recording as well. Hope this helps!

Before sending a ticket, why don't you try to "clean" the room first? i.e. getting rid of reflective objects and perhaps using a carpet. Just to sort that out.

Has it always been that jittery or did it just appear?

This already been tested by many and it didn't change anything. Would be absurd too to have such issues caused by refletive stuff. Would make the unit unusable for many!

I have same issue, and it is bad enough to make me feel slightly "off" when in headset and standing still. Problem exists on 2 different computers with same headset/lighthouse setup. I have moved lighthouses around, checked their anchoring (solid into wall), covered all reflective surfaces, have a non-reflective rug, etc., and it doesn't seem to make much of a difference. I will make some captures and post.

I have been trouble shooting with HTC support for the better part of the week. Today someone from HTC, who clearly hasn't read the full support ticket, contacted me with only this message

"I am so sorry for the delay, a couple of minutes ago I was able to see the video you send me, and that experience is quite normal. If that makes you feel sick, is better to contact your doctor."

That's the whole message.

This is clearly a bug in either hardware or software and anyone that tries my vive experiences what me and other users described. I still haven't heard back from SteamVR support other than they are working on the issue. I was going to try a friend's base stations, but I'm inclined to request a refund as I may run out of time in the refund window.
