It's a bit late for you but anyone else looking to get a GTX 1080 for VR should look into the ones with custom PCBs, the Asus Strix version has 2 HDMI ports on the back (replacing a display port) and the Gigabyte Xtreme Gaming version has a front panel with an additional 2 HDMI ports and 2 USB ports to make it easier to plug in VR.
My ZOTAC GTX1080FE can use vive only HDMI port.
DP1.4 <-> HDMI - this conversion connector will be needed?
Have you tried a different DP on your 1080?
What card were you using before your 1080, did you have the same problem?
So Steam support seem to believe there's an issue
Here's the mention of "possible firmware update": http://steamcommunity.com/app/250820/discussions/0/350533172684938824/
I hadn't seen that one, thanks.
Rather troubling that he says "hopefully" there'll be a firmware update...
Displayport -> Mini Displayport cable, plugged into a GTX 1080?
If so, what specific GTX 1080 are you running and what driver versions? Would be nice to track down the scope of the issue.
GTX1080 (HDMI) -> Link box (HDMI)
Works perfectly.
GTX1080 (DP) -> Link box (MiniDP)
Is broken for me (and many others).
GTX1080 (DP) -> Adaptive DP/HDMI Converter -> Link box (HDMI)
Apparently works but is not recommended due to potential latency introduced by the converter.
GTX1080 (DP) -> Passive DP/HDMI Converter -> Link box (HDMI)
Unknown
Tried both GFX drivers ( there is only 2 )
mini dsiplayport to displayport not working - tried on all display port slots on card.
HDMI works
---------------------------
I used the displayport on my 970 ftw and that worked. This seems to be a issue on the newer 1080's
Display outputs include three DisplayPort 1.4 connectors, one HDMI 2.0b, and one dual-link DVI.
