Controllers powering off
Has anyone experienced their controllers powering off whilst in use since the last SteamVR update? It's started happening to me - quite random, can be 15 minutes before one of them shuts down (can be either of them) or one of them can go two or three times within 5 minutes.

I've been using my Vive for around 4 months but have only noticed this in the last week or so and it seems to co-incide with one of the recent updates. I've seen posts from people saying their whole SteamVR is powering down and the workaround is to disable power management in the SteamVR UI, but I'm only seeing it happen to the controllers.

I've tried a few things, most recently setting the controllers to never goto sleep, it hasn't happened since then but I only gave it maybe 10 minutes since making that setting.

Just curious if anyone else has seen anything similar.

Yup, one of my controllers. But it's been glitchy for a while, and has a crappy touchpad as well, but I've heard that is pretty common. It has turned off a couple of times the last few weeks. Thought it was just the lifespan of it as I've banged it into plenty of things, like smashing a monitor with it. I assume it was that controller as it's acting up :P

I'm pretty sure it's happening to both of mine so I kind of ruled out a hardware issue with the controller. I need to double check that though, I think I'll mark one of them - also pretty sure one of the logs reports controller IDs on shutdown so I'll check that.

Cheers for the feedback BOLL!

I had the same problem. Controllers often powering off during game play. I went to settings > power management and disabled power off after x minutes.

Yup, I haven't had the problem since disabling power off either. Had the batteries go flat a few times though :)

Happened to me too after last Steam VR update on both HMD and controllers. Quick fix is to go to settings in the VR-menu, and set power settings to "never" both for the HMD and for the controllers.
