Thoughts on the update
I've got to say, the changes have really impressed me.
-I like that enemies drop equipment that is actually intact, and therefore valuable, while the economy system and my inventory limit keep me from hoarding everything. I've had to make several trips back to my private quarters just to unload useful crafting materials I may use since stores won't buy what I would have called junk beforehand, and making the rounds in SGS just doesn't cut it for selling the metric ton of loot I am sitting on.
-I don't like that getting overencumbered can stop you in your tracks, I would rather see a set 50% movement speed impairment. Sometimes, I am out there, and I just don't wanna give up any of my precious loot, even after having been economic about what I pick up.
-The intiative system works really well, as an agile sniper I have a lot of power now.
-The oddities are really fun to find, I would like to see a sort of checkbook eventually, however, so I can keep track of what I've found.
-My main problem is that I do not know where I am supposed to go to continue story-related missions. I am playing on a file that is older than the update, and after returning to SGS with the drill circuit and choosing a side with the gangs, I can't really find anyone with new dialogue. Any ideas?
Overall, I like the new stuff.

Think you've reached the end main quest line dude, might be a few sides you haven't done, but the latest update only just expanded on the main quest line, from handing in drill bit onwards

You have to start a new game.

Yes I am so glad things drop at a better quality now too.

It actually does what you said. You will see the color of it start to change as well as the speed your character moves.

I agree with this too and asked for somthing simular in another thread. Styg is considering this he said.

I'm probably just gonna keep my guy wandering around. Enemies will respawn (at least some of them), and I can explore Underrail for days or weeks on end easy. TNT is fun to use when getting around.

So..Is there anywhere i can sell anything or is it just what people are looking for? Got blueprints i already know and stuff of that nature....
seraphimblade 23. jan. 2014 kl. 20.00
I suppose there is that issue. I tactically pick things up, based on what I can carry and what I need, but there is always something I cannot sell, and I eventually return to my private quarters at SGS to store things. Unfortunately, there is no footlocker and or shelf with unlimited storage space (unless I'm just doing it wrong???), so if I can't find a way to either:
A) know who is buying what (perhaps via an economy communicator, or something?)
or B) add more storage space to my private quarters (requisitions office at SGS would help, pay 500 credits, get another locker perhaps?)
then I'mm gonna have to start trashing stuff, and I don't want to have to resort to that.
I could always just stash stuff in other lockers and containers across the station, or even throughout the game, but that just feels counter-productive, spending all that time either memorizing what I stored in this or that place, or just turning all the containers into little supply depots (stash a good gun, some repair kits and ammo, hope for the best).

Yea Ive put it down for now basicaly because of that. Will revisit it when its complete to hopefully rekindle my love for this game. Got into this game too early on and that might have been a mistake since I dont care for the direction its going now (I can handle the weight limit but the merchant/vendor changes just annoy me so very much). Which probally would not have even been a problem if I only knew it from its finished state so I dont regret my purchase just the timing of it.

I do like Styg's creations and will of course continue to support them just wish he would put the Barney Fife cop badge down for a bit and let us enjoy a few more things without so much restriction. I know life is tuff in the Underral, but fu**ing hell, come on, let us outa jail!

I played with a strength: 3 character and have never witnessed this alleged strict carry weight i.e have never been overencumbered. Honestly what RPGs have you guys been playing that have caused this "It's all mine, everything" mentality? LOL.

If you know what's good to take/who to trade with you wont become overencumbered nor be out of money all the time. Trade medical supplies you don't need for ones you do, trade guns/ammo you don't need for things you do need (ammo/lockpicks/explosive components etc) etc, don't go around picking up every scrap of metal or fabric you find (unless you're crafting something and actually need them). Basically trade goods for goods, which alows you to save money for more expensive weapons/armor etc and also learn who wants what and how many they usually want.

To put it simply: stop hoarding items you don't need and stop being greedy, you don't need excessive amounts of money. Also learn to trade (trading isn't "I have all this junk and some shmuck is willing to pay" btw).
I think some people are seeing high value items and their mind suddenly thinks "ohh, money" and they don't stop to think "but who will actually buy this item?"...

I have never run out of money. My character is Str5, but since I have a sniper/crafters build, just about anything can be useful to me. To elaborate, my character has over 60 points in Tailoring and Mechanics, and close to 50 or 60 in chemistry. I'm not that high in Biology or Electronics. But that still leaves things like metal plates, gun components, leather, ammunition, (in short, anything to make firearms and armor) as potentially valuable. I'm sitting in piles of money that I don't know how to spend yet. I must have close to 6000 charons and 7-8K in credits, the last time I was online anyway.
Unfortunately, I can tell that this amount of money, while it sounds like a lot, will only go so far in the coming areas if higher tier weapons and gear become more expensive. Perfect example: getting your first SMG while fighting rathounds was a godsend since you couldn't afford anything yet, but then you got an assault rifle after killing the raider leader in the GMS. If the game heads in the direction I would guess it's going, there is clearly a major confrontation coming, and I would like to have my character prepared for it with top-notch gear (preferably that I made).
Getting money isn't an issue, getting materials isn't an issue. I just can't find buyers because the economy system is too constricted in two regards:
-Buyers will only buy 2-3 weapons per category of what I happen to find if I'm lucky, whereas they'll guzzle ammo like there's no tomoro. The issue is that, in the three-four(?) hours of roaming and exploring that it takes for the merchants to reset, I can kill a lot of guys, and find a lot of loot.
-There is no way to know WHO will buy WHAT until you have tried to sell to them after a few hours several times.
I'm not saying the economy system needs to go. It makes more sense that the weapons dealer at SGS is more interested in ammo and guns, whereas the mechanic likes components. My suggestion is just to make things a little more comprehensive for the players. The gun merchant at SGS is my best example. The first time I sold to him with the new system, he wasn't buying grenades, but he didn't say he bought them either. So i went across the place to find someone who would buy the couple Mk3 grenades I found, since I had access to Mk4s anyway. When I came back to sell him more ammo, he wasn't buying crossbows anymore, but wanted grenades suddenly.
IN SHORT: If a merchant would simply say ALL of the things he COULD buy, then say what he wants at the moment, I would have no issues at all. It would just help me organize where I gotta go to sell what, whenever the heck it is that they wanna buy.

Just see the above. I'm a crafter. EVERYTHING is useful. If I'm not able to sell or carry the things I find when I snipe down a whole band of lunatic killers, then Styg's next addition should restrict crafting as well. Like Caesar said, I love the game, but this latest update was a little off-balance for my character build, and probably for other crafting-heavy folks.

I agree with the above and would like to add that I understand why Styg is going this way it makes more sense in this type of world but I think the economy still needs to be balanced(big time).

Maybe instead of limiting the amount of guns you can sell just let the gun dealer buy an unlimited amount of guns(he only has so much money anyway) and maybe only 1 at a time to other vendors.

Match up what we can sell to vendors that way that takes out alot of the guess work on who is gonna buy what. I think it would be better if you just let them buy an unlimited supply of their type of buisness, exp guns or meds and then you could limit the amount of odd things that type of buisness would buy.

You could also have a random bonus item that the vendor would pay more for because they were really looking for it and of course they would only buy 1 of it.

*moral of the story*

I dont think Styg needs to limit the amount of items the vendor will buy since he already limits the amount of money the vendor has to buy things from you anyway.

please explain why is does not make any sense vs your short little *etarded jab.

I guess I need to explain it a little better for the simple minded....

What I was going for was that its not like you can sell that much to the vendors anyway. They have a limited amount of money. Now if you were refering to the fact that other vendors would not want to buy guns if they sell in another field is understandable. Although in a world such as Underrail is I would think that other vendors would definatly be willing to trade other items for guns.

I will say it one more time so you understand it 0o. The vendors have a limited amount of money to begin with so I dont see the need to limit the amount of items they are willing to trade as it will sort itself out by the amount of money they have.
