Difference b/t Underrail & Wasteland 2?
Does anyone know what the fundamental difference, in terms of gameplay, between these 2 games are? Thanks

Wasteland 2 : Group based gameplay, more tactical than underrail

Underrail : Solo play

If you know the fallout games, underrail is much more like fallout 1/2 and wasteland 2 is more like fallout tactics, but with much more rpg elements than FO:tactics.

I just purchased underrail today and the game is really promising, exactly what a fallout nerd like me was looking for!

buy both, play both

Underrail is very Fallout-like. With its atmosphere at least. Great game, pity it's incomplete. There are still a lot of content in it. And there are almost no bugs.

One is excellent value for money, while the other is horribly overpriced.

I'm sure that you can decide which is which for yourself.

after playing underrail, I have to say I am somewhat dissapointed in the sci-fi direction it is headed

oh don't get me wrong, its definately worth the coin. It does howevever steer further and further from the simplicity of special(fallout) and more towards Dungeons and Dragons(DnD) every update. That isn't for everyone.

Hmm, how to best xplain it.

Well, to start off, it seems to have a steeper learning curve, more akin to neverwinter nights 2(DnD) where someone new to the genre will have trouble learning.

You are very squishy on your 1st playthrough, can easily blow your cash, lots of chances to build wrong( a balanced character is much weaker then say a purist, sometimes unplayably so) ammo is(? or least was last I played) exremely scarce. Some encounters are extremly overpowering, economy is more one sided then in many games. (less then 1/3rd of price if selling if I remember correctly)

The damage ranges, and damage types are somewhat complicaed, throw in psi, and it gets wierd(this, and the recent shields is what I'm talking about the si-fi angle not working for me)

Game has some great perks, is pretty fun, and is a great price. And considering its one guys creation, has come a LONG way.

edit: oh and on topic, the 2 games can't be compared. Underrail is a one guy game(think he has some help only recntly) the other(wasteland) is a multi milion dollar game, made by a team of video game dev pros with experience.

i agree .
yeah lets see yeah that learning curve is there but once you overcome it (i play on easy and find it a challenge ) its loads of fun and now i dont have to much trouble finding ammo now that i have coin to spare im quite well stocked carrying special ammo for special encounters its quite fun
