Report a translation problem
What version are you playing on, supergreat? This is probably a bug.
That or it could be a Persuasion check of some form, but if so it should at least be displayed.
If you can't go back through the dialogue, you could always try going back to a previous save and going through the quest again, in the event that you missed something. If that's not an option, either, well at least you can still complete the quest just by killing them.
I hope the devs take note of this. If you could move this to the Bug Reports section of the forums here, that might help the devs notice it faster.
