Any aspiring screenwriters here?
I like to envision myself as a cross between Terrence Malick and Quentin Tarantino..

Just kidding, but it's cool that this is on Steam. Now it only needs achievements and trading cards amirite?

Also any reason to get this over say, CeltX or FinalDraft?

Not sure, recently started writing up my own screenplay for a project I'm hoping to do next year.

I like CeltX, but it's about £10 a month; this seems to do everything it does and for a one off payment of £18. Really quite tempted to give it a shot :[

Is this game fun?

Actually, the basic old-fashioned version of CeltX still seems to be free, you just need to sign up for a trial version of one of their pay services to get it. Personally I prefer FinalDraft, but I'm on an ancient copy (V.6), so can't comment on the current software. This is, at least, alot cheaper.

Well, I'll be sticking with that for now.

What format do the scripts save in? Does it allow you to save as a .pdf?
likwitsnake Dec 3, 2013 @ 2:46pm
No idea with this program, but in CeltX you can save them as a PDF.

Celtx seems to do everything it does and it lets you save pdf for free. The only reason for buying it would be an android app to edit the script, but there seem to be none. celtx does have one, but it sucks.

i've not heard of Celtwhat? I have heard of Final Draft, but now that i see a screenwriting software on Steam, i'm more inclined to buy this. Steam...Valve...they're onto something big, they're gonna completely change the way software is bought and sold...my biggest dream of becoming a filmmaker might be my 2nd biggest dream i'm afraid...a job at Valve seems pretty nifty at the moment, i have so many ideas i can give them and improve it all, but how will they know it?

Will it be necessary to pay some additional money for the android version or will it be a part of steam release?

I'm still rolling around the idea of this program. I'll probably buy it, but I've been wanting to make an independent film in the style of a Spaghetti Western, only with a few slight twists. A lot of my friends are wanting to do it, and I've got several vinyl soundtracks that are inspiring me (yes, that snap crackle and pop of the vinyl does make a difference lol).

Always wanted to make my own little movie, but more than anything I just need a camera and decent audio recording device or microphone- or both in one camera. Audio and video quality in a 1960's Spaghetti Western weren't crystal clear as movies today, so that helps cut costs for just one guy with a dream :)
