Please make time for Linux.
I am sorry if I come across as a bit rude in this post, it's just my frustrations seeping through.

I can't see any reason why this game is still missing from the Steam Linux library. The game has been available for years on Linux and your team clearly knows how to integrate Steamworks with this game as well as with the Linux platform as evidenced by the recent release of Receiver. If it is a question of making time I must wonder how you can manage to make time to create a tech demo shooter game, take part in charity game jams, and run the Humble Bundle sales and yet not put a few days aside to support customers of your existing products.

This is what really rubs me the wrong way with a lot of indie developers, this half-♥♥♥♥♥ and incomplete commitment to Linux support. I bought this game through Steam several months ago when I was still naive enough to believe a company in your position would jump at the chance to set an example for other developers and embrace Steam Linux support at the earliest possible opportunity. I guess now I see more clearly how your company feels about Linux and its users by your inaction in this situation. I am just glad i didn't pre-order Overgrowth yet if this is the sort of second rate treatment I can expect. Which is a real shame as both Lugaru and Overgrowth look like the sort of games I would really enjoy playing and would gladly support if circumstances were different.

Just saw that Lugaru shows up in my Linux library now. Even though it isn't properly installable yet, I am really glad to see that it is at least on the horizon finally. Thanks for taking the concerns of Linux users seriously.

Nice to see it for Linux on Steam. I have it since earlier from a HIB. Is it worth playing (and learning)? I have heard that it's fairly complex, especially the controls.

Waiting for it

They just fixed it and now it works on Linux.

Aye, I got it installing now. Thanks for finally getting around to this; I'm looking forward to seeing if it was worth the wait, hehe.

I am really surprised by how small the download is, rare to see a 3d game coming in under 35 MB.

Well just gave it a quick try and there are a few pretty major issues with it for me. It goes straight into full screen mode with the wrong screen resolution, so the the bottom portion of the game screen if off the bottom of my monitor, leaving a huge empty area across the top of my screen.

Then when I go into options I can't change the res to fix the problem and as far as I can see there is no option to switch to windowed mode (though it could very well just be down on the portion of the screen I can't see).

Finally I have Skype running and when a friend sent me an im I lost control of the rabbit while doing the tutorial. I couldn't move him after that, but I could still move the camera and when I aimed it down to look at him he seemed to be spazzing out spinning in place.

[EDIT: Going into the games properties and adding the -windowed flag as a launch option is a partial work around for the screen issue at least. Going to play it some more this way and see how it goes.]

[EDIT2: I got through the tutorial in windowed mode without issues, even had a few incoming ims that didn't screw up the controls, So if anyone else is having issues windowed mode should at least make things playable for now until we see an update that fixes the issues above.]

The resolution is forced to 1024x768, I can't change it.

We'll look into any bugs, of course; we updated this to SDL2 for the Steam release (Humble Bundle, etc, was on SDL 1.2), so we probably have a couple of fixes to make.

Thanks for the update icculus, do you have a link to a better place to report bugs for this game? I'd be glad to post reports of any issues I find while playing through.

I keep a bugtracker for Lugaru at https://bugzilla.icculus.org/

I don't know what's in Ubuntu's repo, it's either the Humble Bundle build, or something built from the GPL source code. This is the Humble Bundle build with some fixes and SDL2 (those patches are here: https://icculus.org/pipermail/lugaru/2013-June/000051.html )
