Suggestion: Have police seal off house after the safe has been broken into
The main gameplay flaw is that, after *one* player has brute-forced their way through a puzzle, other players (or ALTs) can wash-rinse-repeat. For players with an interesting puzzle, this flaw is a discouragement because 1) any money that you've earned is completely lost due to repeated break-and-enters, and 2) the trend where spiteful players would *also* destroy as much as they can of the house (i.e., force you to start from scratch because you no longer have money, and everything in your house has been destroyed).

Literally, the only way to make progress in this game is by continuously monitoring your house throughout the day, which is absurd.

However, all the gameplay needs is:
  1. When someone has successfully broken into your house, the "police" seal off that house (with tape ;-) ) until after you log in and repair your house.
  2. The rule probably should be that, if you proceed with breaking into other homes, then it is assumed that your own home has been repaired and is ready for other players.

Technically, the "police tape" rule could be applied after the (say) tenth time that a wall was destroyed. The idea being that intruders' efforts have been detected by all the demolition work that has been taking place.

I disagree. I think the main flaw is that there exists some cheat or exploit currently, because my house gets robbed as if they already know the layout too frequently.

You don't realize that when someone breaks walls or cuts wires etc, those changes don't remain unless the invader gets to your loot. And assuming the game was playable, I would suggest that the repairs aren't that terrible to afford since they basically cost less than what it cost to destroy them, with some exceptions. In my opinion, what it needs is server-side security that prevents whatever exploit is giving someone full visibility, because when someone gets the right door out of 10, or knows which door not to open etc, it's just not likely that it was accidental.

Not to beat a deadhorse with my Terminal Heist advertising. But these are some of the problems we solve or intend to solve. The primary way people cheat is using hacked clients that allow the robber to see your whole map. We've implemented server side execution so the whole map is never sent down to the robber. We have this working but its not turned on in production yet. As for the police tape idea. Since we have Terminal Heist working on mobile if you get your house broken you can try to minimize the damage from wherever you are. We are also planning on adding push notifications so you can set alerts for things like vault broken, large sum or money suddenly dropped in your house or if a particular rival is robbing your house.

Having the ability to monitor your game through mobile is a lousy idea.

When people want to play a game, they sit down and play the game, and they do that *when* they want to play the game.

People don't want games that are part-time jobs, like MMOs. Of course, people don't recognize that MMOs are like part-time jobs, at first. And that's what people will realize with respect to any game that has the "convenience" of a mobile app.

The mobile apps are full versions of the game not just for monitoring what's going on. If you don't want to be notified don't turn notifications on (I love that we are debating a feature that doesn't exist yet - I mentioned this idea cause it was something I wanted when I was playing TCD). If you don't want to play on mobile, don't play on mobile. We have PC and Mac clients too. The fact is this game can be played exactly the way you played TCD. Albeit with different graphics, a growing user base rather than a shrinking one and thats still being actively developed (and given that it's being actively developed ideas like your police tape idea could actually end up in the game - it's not gonna end up in TCD or anywhere else unless you write it then start your own server etc). Our goal is to try to stay true to the original but to also be able to evolve and improve. Lastly, everyone has been complaining about the lack or a sale for TCD our game is free. I love TCD that's why I'm trying to solve people's biggest complaints, I just want this game to keep existing.
And by the way, with all due respect the idea that an MMO on mobile is a bad idea or people don't play games like that....I don't know where you've been. Search for mmo in the apple app store you'll be scrolling for awhile. Would I do a dangerous robbery or complicatd house design on my phone probably not, but the game works just as well as it's desktop counter parts on tablets. Do I like the idea that I can move my vault when I notice a robber is starting to get close to it and all I happen to have on me is my phone? Yes I do and I imagine others would too.
