How to attract different monsters?

Ummmmm. I know that getting further unlocks more monsters. But if I buy a higher tier altar, will it instantly attract higher tier Abyssals?

No. To get better abyssals fast, you need many rooms packed full of fishy-ones and the most expensive altars with as few as possible other amenaties for the fishies, as well as many creepy statues. The prayer/rituals of the F.O.s, and only the F.O.s, attact higher teir abyssals. Beware, a certain teir alter will make all children born in the room Pul-Pymessies, which become very common quickly, and require good furniture and the best air conditioning (they aren't the best fighters either).
