Very cool game. I didn't expect as much depth to it as it had.
It was also freakin' hard! The first dungeon has 2 difficulties, "Too easy" and "Easy", which really rather felt like "Normal" and "Hard mode". I haven't managed to clear it on Easy yet (so, "Hard mode"), but the too easy variant was indeed pretty easy to beat. I never ended up bothering much with the other dungeons, I tried them but in the end the original dungeon was the most fun.
There's lot of variety in the game. You can go at it from a lot of different approaches (Tower-Defense style or rather Hero-Defense style for example) which isn't explained in the game but you figure it out on your own, or through YouTube videos.
Multiplayer mode adds in a lot of fun and really enhances the game. You have to decide together with someone else which way to go, what to build, which stuff to research and how to spend your resources as efficiently as possible. Also you cannot pause in multiplayer, which saved my life very often in single player mode. That makes it a lot more challenging, but since more players can watch over things it's well-balanced.
Multiplayer mode does have one big downside: it's messed up resource system. It would've been more fun if resources were either shared or something else. Now each player has their own resource pool of which the income is based on a formula that goes (normal resources gained/amount of players), rounded up. Usually I ended up passing all science resources to one player, that would do all research and then I'd do all production so they'd give all industry resources to me. Every round. Super annoying.
All in all, definitely a fun and challenging game. I'd recommend it to others, both single- and multiplayer. It's easy to pick up, hard to master, and throws a serious challenge at you. It's definitely worth the price, compared to what you get.
