Has that worked for you, though? Maybe I'm just making things up because I was probably half asleep playing DotE up to like 3 in the morning before I made this thread.
From that point on the group won't go away. You can reassign who's IN the group but not by *removing* heros. You have to just create the NEW group and hit Ctrl + number again. There is no way to have *nobody* selected, so you will end up having to put Hero 4 in his own Group 4, and likewise for any of the others you screwed up. If you created groups for 5,6, etc they will always have to be SOMEONE from that point on. As far as I can see...
If there's really no way to toggle players in/out of the group or get rid of the group, that's a hella sloppy feature implementation.
I just do ctrl plus the number to re-assign them.
For example. Click on the 1st hero, then press ctrl + 1. Now every time you push one, it will automatically go to that character.
Repeat the process for the other three. So you'd click on character #2, then press ctrl + 2, and so on and so forth.
I see, thanks a lot!
That's what I ended up doing too. It's a shame there isn't another way to solve this >_<
You just have to re-assign their hotkey manually. I listed how to do it in my previous post. It really only takes about 5 or 6 seconds to do. It's not that big of a chore.
No I realize this, but it doesn't really make sense that you can't DELETE a number assignment, especially since a number assignment isn't obligatory (you don't start the game with anybody assigned a "group" number, nor are you required to use the system to play the game). It's just sort of a weird, half-implemented feature. If you can add them, you should be able to take them away.
The number assignment is basically a free throw-in from the developers. How many strategy games have you played where a unit has a predetermined hotkey? I haven't come across one yet.
This whole thread/concept is splitting hairs that don't even exist.
Yes, having an "undo" key is ideal. But they went that one step further and pre-assigned the hotkeys, and also gave you the option to re-assign, as well as assign group keys.
.... Why are people still complaining again?
