I've been playing for a while (can't remember when exactly, but I started when there was only a pistoleer and rifleman class) and I'm loving Door Kickers and the new classes constantly being added. However, it seems to me like point men don't serve much of a purpose anymore; I typically rely on breachers and stealthers, with the occasional assaulter (usually playing sniper with an m4 or SAR bullpup) or shield to start off room breaches if rooms are particularly crowded.
I don't really use point men, though, typically because I feel as if a pistol is lack-luster. Aside from quick maneuvering (quicker than what is already satisfactory with my breachers and assaulters), does the pistol still serve any kind of role? It seems like with all the new weapons the badguys are toting (which I love), pistols don't quite cut it when I can send a guy in with heavy armor and a JC shotgun, or an assault with a G36c or MP5 instead. They don't even get a mobility boost for carrying only a sidearm.
Maybe, in the future, point men could be given more of an edge by being allowed to carry more equipment/tactical items (or even get exclusive ones?), or being able to move faster than other units in equivalent armor.
