[support] Resolution Issues, Black Screen
I set the options for resolution on max, and now I get a black screen and can't see the optios to reset it.

Any suggestions on how to get it to revert to default? Already tried reinstalling and deleting the files from my comp.

Sure. You'll need to manually delete two files on your computer.
  • ogre.cfg
  • first_run_complete.txt

Be careful - there's 2 ogre.cfg files on your machine - one is the default settings, and the other your current settings. Make sure you delete the right one.

You can find these files in this directory:
  • Win7, Vista: C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Salvation Prophecy
  • Win XP: C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Salvation Prophecy
  • Replace USERNAME with whatever your user name is.

Unfortunately, the AppData folder may be hidden.
There's a few different ways[www.google.ca] you can get at it, in case that's not something you know how to do. Let me know if you run into trouble finding it.

Thanks, this helped for me but it would be nice to actually be able to play in 1920x1080 resolution, my poor eyes feel like they are bleeding playing on a lower rez!

You could try manually editing ogre.cfg to set the resolution to 1920x1080
It would look something like this:
Video Mode=1920 x 1080 @ 32-bit colour

i'll give that a try, thanks.

EDIT: Worked like a charm, sweet, thank you!

Groovy.
Something else to note for future reference is that when I originally ran this game in Linux (64-bit Ubuntu 12.04), it defaulted to 720p (1280x720) on a system using 1080p. When I exited to my desktop, that ended up 1280x720 and Steam menus were covered up by the enlarged taskbar at top of screen (I ran into that before with a game demo that defaulted to 800x600). I went back into the game and changed resolution to 1920x1080, restarted the game, and then it was 1080p. But on exit my desktop was still 720p.

To exit Steam I had to go to Big Picture mode and then exit Steam from that. Simply logging out of X and back in restored my desktop to 1080p. The game works great in Linux @ 1080p with my GTX 550 Ti.
When I first run this game it auto detected and run the game at 720p My monitor and desktop resolution are 1080p. I obviously changed the resolution to 1080p. After that I couldn't play the game at all since my monitor would say something like "out of range". I had to manualy edit the files to set 720p to make the game run again without problems.
Sad.

Interesting game though.

Thanks for the info trusteft.

I've searched around for that error, and got quite a few hits[www.google.co.th] on google for other games on steam which encountered this issue.

The general consensus is that your monitor is either unhappy with the refresh rate or resolution the game is trying to run in. Some others have suggested a driver problem. If your monitor is working fine with other games at 1080p, it's a bit of a mystery why it's not happy with Salvation Prophecy - and this is the first I've heard of this issue.

It's tough for me to narrow it down further than that. If it's really bugging you to play in a lower resolution, maybe some of those google hits might be worth looking into.
Thank you JabberwockX. I am not sure what I will do yet, perhaps see if I can update my graphics drivers. I have this problem with just two games, this one and Thunder Wolves (which I haven't found a way to run at all).
I will post here if I manage to solve it.
