How many people play multiplayer?

Hello. I want to buy this game becouse of multiplayer but I am afraid that multiplayer is almost dead. Can somebody tell me how many people approximately play multiplayer in these days please? Thanks for answers.

Just dropping a note to say that the multiplayer is still active from time to time on this great game. There's a big European crowd and smaller American crowd that comes on around 7ish EDT. Come and play with us!

In general there's only one or two active servers at a time, but the regulars are a pretty passionate group so you're in good company.
