Originally I got this on a sale to see if I could remake AVGNA for fun with it (so I could make custom levels to play with just myself and friends) and see how far I could get.. did not go well at all. As a sidenote - I asked a question on the forum, no answer for 3 days.
I spent 2 days struggling with simple things, after 2 days now with the software Construct 2 on the same task I've had a much easier time getting there. Of course by '2 days' I don't mean 24 or 48 hours - but just within, say a few hours each day. The software of Construct (and probably a few others online) is almost identical but everything is just much better in my opinion - from the icons not looking outdated, to having sub-events, to actually having sprite hitboxes, to exporting both html5, exe and much more for *free* and not having to buy addons - I've done over 50% of it now, all it's missing is enemies and backgrounds.
This is where I managed to get in this 'test' with Construct 2: http://youtu.be/p2cxcxkevvg
Here's the same with Clickteam Fusion 2.5: http://youtu.be/eohn1e3BbJc
And I'm not kidding. This is legitimately how far I got with Clickteam Fusion in 2 days. I even have more stuff in Construct that's just saved for other stages. In regards to my forum question earlier - I couldn't get a sprite hitbox working, at all, since for some reason that needs to be difficult in a 'tool' that's meant to make that simple. Which means progress on anything else substantial was very low since I can't exactly progress with a broken hitbox.
I had ~30 hours of Clickteam Fusion use in the past (check by my hours), and was fresh on Construct 2. A few YouTube videos to see the differences is all it takes to switch.
It's okay if you read this and don't care for an alternative software, or hate Construct, I'm just sharing comparisons. If that's the case; I can't recommend this software, since it can't be 'simple' when missing 'simple' features. As well as being.. fairly outdated. (Really.. no sprite hitbox polygon? For 2D platformers? For any object at all?) Bottom line with this is - if I can't manage to COPY a game mechanically and visually in some 'easy' software (which infact they themselves built it in), yet I can in software they didn't use much easier, how in the holy ♥♥♥♥ am I meant to make my own games properly with it?
And no, I'm not going to be making any money from that game, because you know, it's not like I ripped all the graphics using Flash and tracing bitmaps. Totally legal for me to sell! http://puu.sh/gdNxY/c930303016.png
