Tips for beginners
Hi I just wanted to mention a few useful hints for the first few matches:

Do play a few training matches. They get harder after a while and you can try different champions and shells. You can always see a champions skills by clicking his portrait on the bottom right. Try to learn their special skills! They are key to dominance on the field.

Also, pay attention to the AEther your ship collects! Your Aether shell actions can turn a battle easily.

The rest is practice ;)

Have fun!

Please read my early adopter thread? Your tips help, but, the tutorial could use some work. That said, I am glad I adopted the Deluxe version and really hoping this game's potential becomes actuality.

This is actually a reaction to your thread, thanks for pointing those things out!
I won´t interrupt threads where players reflect on the game for now, but we read everything here with great attention. But again, thanks a lot for the elaborate first analysis, players like you make our quest here a lot easier :)

I woundered if anybody of you has advice for new players?
What was difficult to figure out for you, what would you tell less experienced players to do during their first few matches?

Something difficult for me to figure out is pushing damage.
I still don't know how it works exactly. I could probably figure it out if I would remember all pushing damages I've seen, but I don't. So here's a guess from what I remember:
If you get pushed into something you take 2 damage, if something gets pushed into you you take 1 damage.

Ah yes, a very goof topic, thx!
It is 2 extra damage if the thing you are being pushed into is rigid, like a pole or a ship.
It is 1 damage for push collision for everybody involved.
A lot more if you get pushed over the edge, about 999 dmg for hitting the ground after a looong way down :)

So in a push chain everyone receives one push damage, except the last one who will receive two damage if he is pushed into something ridgid, and one damage otherwise?

From what i seen people always fall into the trap of rushing into enemy to get hit for a double. Ie. Lose 1 attack for movement while the enemy gets a dbl attack off. this seems to be a huge problem with people not understanding that you should be poking with range first.
Also there seems to be a noticeable problem with people understanding how energy works. There will be times were people don't count their dmg and leave my harlequin with almost full energy live and let me get free sacs.
The last trap i seen is people not understanding how butcher hook interacts with floor panels.

I have a great video for all you guys to watch. Explains how the aether/charges work and how to collect them.

check it out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LXmVPcuw_DE

Also poke around my channel to find more vids about this game. I will try updating it daily.
Thanks and hope you guys enjoy it :) some feedback would be good as well.

Learning to time the use of turns - when to go for more aether, or attack now etc.
Also, you need to use your heroes as a team, I guess - know which ones complement each eachother.

A nice tip is to get your close-range heroes in, charged and down the wing as fast as possible. I always put harlequin right on the edge - which is great if their in a player aether square. Keep back your defensive heroes - Crank, Bloddy Mary, Bug, bringing them to the middle if necessary. In lady aurora's case - wait for your chance to use her ultimate - multi-hit heaven !

Since the two maps currently have pillars on the 2nd to the edge line you should be keeping harlequin behind these. Pretty much seen people push with their melee and suffer because they lose their characters pre doing anything useful.

Yes - The tactic that I suggested wasn't a 'mad rush' - I was saying that you want to get your melee heroes charged and ready for action ASAP. You should be try to stay out of double hit range - it all depends on what your opponent does in the opening stages. It all depends on situation.
And, as for the map thing - I'm sure that this will change soon.
