If you could ban ONE shell - which would you choose?
Edit: EXITUS will be removed - so use them up within the next weeks before it disappears
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hey everybody!

I would like to know what shell you find the most annoying.

Please let me also know what level you are in game, so I can put that into perspective (which shells can you use and which ones will you probably face rather seldomly)

If we get a clear result here, I will go to the guys and demand it to be discarded.

Go!

Exitus!

I'm a level 80, finished in aether masters both seasons.

If I had to pick a single shell it would be exitus!

In the mechanics thread with soundchaos I proposed that a shell is overpowered if it will be used by players at ANY cost due to its incredible power.

Exitus qualifies, it is one of the most popular shells and is frankly better than other red shell rares

Its aether cost at 10 is equivalent to aether discharge which does less

By doing less what do I mean? Aether discharge does 3 damage for 10 aether.. hardly a good deal but people play it. Exitus does 2 damage to the ship and a tempo gain... one in which they cannot shell you back.

The number of games I've played that were decided by who cast exitus really stuck it home.

It would be fair if it did 6 damage to a champion or something like that. But the instakill basically means now it can do 12 damage to hammer.. its too powerful even for 10 aether.

GOMP. I'm level 75 I think.

Here's my old argument, from the "Is the Meta getting stale?" thread:

It's a rock-paper-scissors situation, which is bad for a game like this, I think, like, "I know you typically carry Backdoor (and that I'm probably going to be matched against you), so I'll bring a GOMP." It is not really rewarding for either side. If the victim actually defends their ship, the backdoor-carrier regrets bringing it (instead of something more versatile); and if they fail to defend adequately, they get crushed. Ditto GOMP, but worse, since you're even less likely to use it.

It would be far better if players could set their loadout according to their personal play style (and the map, if known). I don't think Teleport and Exitus get in the way of this goal (and I don't really buy the "it's not interactive enough" thing).

I'm sure Exitus will be a clear winner in this poll. I'd be fine with it out or in if Rarity were eliminated.

AEther Discharge! Very much uncool!
Exitus is ok, usefull like Get of my Porch! But excessively using is exasperatingly!

Exitus. Shells are meant to shape your strategy, so that you modify how you play to get the most utility out of the shell (setting up a good B&S, getting the most HP out of comeback, etc). Exitus doesnt do that; you just hit it whenever you need to kill a champion, regardless of how you play the rest of your game. At least with GOMP you can bait the opponent to charge your ship.

(I just hit level 80, and finished in AEMs last season)

I think the consensus is Exitus :D

I don't hate it as much as other people do, but it is pretty powerful, and the only real counter-play is to make sure your champions are all heavily damaged when the opponent hits 10 AEther, so they must finish someone off first (and thus have wasted AEther) or go overkill by using a 10 AE shell on a champ with less than 4 health.

And any counterplay that translated to "Be already pretty badly beaten" isn't too great :D

Still, I actually don't hate Exitus as much as I hate Backdoor. I generally don't like the idea of Backdoor anyway. I prefer to fight with champions, and punching ships directly without having to fight through champions is boring to me. And, as I've said before, Backdoor is really the main purpose of Teleport anyway, so having a shell specialized for that main purpose isn't necessary, not in the way that GOMP and Exitus being seperate are.

So is it ok if exchange it for triple-exitus?
Don´t worry it will be ultra rare and available as a separate shell pack
nazdr3g Aug 21 @ 11:30am
rarity does not change how OP a given shell is. It doesn't matter that you made exitus rare, or that it costs 10. That just means the people who are willing to coin red rare packs are going to win the league because frankly exitus is that powerful. The tempo gain pretty much ends it for that player unless the exitus is used at a bad time. If it cost 12 or so it might be fair but even then its too much of an effect. It allows you to kill a full health champ on your baseline or kill the one that will kill yours on their baseline. Its too flexible and it causes too great an effect to ever be balanced by rarity or aether cost.

@loquee: Here are few ideas to replace current Exitus.

Ultimate Exitus - deletes selected opponents champion from his inventory permanently, making him unable to purchase that champion from the shop again.

Chat Exitus - using this shell will remove opponents chat privileges permanently.

Account Exitus - using this shell will kick your opponent out of the game and delete his account together with all the belongings.

@NaZ: I think that was a joke. :)

I'd say: make shells I hate take up all three shell slots. Balance achieved!

Honestly, though, Exitus without ship damage would be fine (at some price below 11, dunno quite where). Likewise for my most hated, GOMP.
