I like virtual hunting.
No animals gets hurt for sport (instead of food), and you can do it over and over. This game certainly has more action than "The Hunter", in which you sometimes have to walk for hours - just to see one animal. Good thing about Cabelas is that animals do not run across the map when they hear a shot, sound do not travel through rocks or hills.
The graphics are prettier than earlier Deer hunter / Big Game hunter, It is not as pretty as "The hunter" but pretty enough. You really feel like you are wandering around in a nice forest. I also like the "CSI" style bullet scenes that shows you clearly where you hit, making you learn the anatomy of the animals and become a better hunter in the process.
Instead of money, you get gear credits. You get more if you go on hunts instead of just picking an open place and start randomly shooting things. There are stands and hides a little here and there on the maps, no need to bring your own. It is nice to be able to get up fast from prone, this usually get tedious when following game you just made a hole in and want to track - or run away from!
Some things i find annoying, the weapon bobbing on screen for example. Also cutscenes should be skippable, not replaced by a text that says "Skipping cutscene" for 10 seconds.
That said, i think that CBGH is a very nice game, i'm glad i bought it.
