took the plunge
I went a head and bought this , totally telling myself that that I wasted my money. I am a trailblazer premium account holder for Thehunter, but I was getting kinda bored with it. I don't know maybe it's the engine, it's getting a little dated now, hopefully they will update it soon. But anyways I bought this total expecting the worst and I can honestly say I am pleasantly surprised. The graphics are not too hard on the eyes at all, not ground braking, but very nice. The game play is where it surprised me. It's actually fun. Yes there is free roam, the animals behave exactly like they should. This is not a full fledge simulator, there are some things like hud indicators where blinds are and ripples on screen when an animal makes a sound. This is no different from the huntermate in TheHunter. There is a good selection of weapons and upgrades and very helpful hints that do not over power the game. All and all I am very happy with my $30 purchase and I would definitely recommend this game to fellow hunters. If you guys have any questions let me know I Will be happy to answer for you.

Can you turn off bullet cam? I doubt it's better than theHunter, but if I ever lose my sub and can't afford to resub for a bit, it's nice to know that I can play something similar in the meantime. I really do hate bullet cam though. If it's not possible to turn it off, then forget it.

Customization is limited to ammunition type and optics, so not endless customization.you can't turn bullet cam off but you can skip it by pressing space bar. No multilayer. When your done with campaign you have all areas unlocked for free roam hunts. But there are a lot of achievements so it will take time. There is some good replay value here. No it is not better than the hunter, but damn close to the same.

Do you get force feedback when you shoot the rifle with the x box controller .... many thanx Timbo

I have not used the xbox controller with it, I'll try it later tonight and let you know. I actually fired up TheHunter and ended up going back to this game. Don't know why, but Im liking this game more right now. Both have great atmospheres.

@timbo yes there is force feedback on the 360 controller. And it really adds to the immersion. @Cylon there are no vehicles. It does not take a long time to get to one part of the map, but yet they still feel huge.

Are there options to turn things off like the noise ripples? Is there a difficulty setting?

Good questions. These are my two big ones I didn't see an answer to in the videos I watched.

The fact the animals act like real animals makes this better than theHunter. Cabela has made a great move here. Free roam hunting. Realistic acting animals. A modern engine. No microtransactions. The guys at theHunter better pick up the pace. Cabela will have mp before you know it.

I'll take your word for it and take the plunge as well.

@Orboc yes there are difficulty settings. I have mine on authentic to give me no help on aiming or highlight vital organs, but you cannot not turn off the sound ripples that I'm aware of. @Thorn, good for you I hope you have some happy hunting ahead of you.

How many animals can you hunt in this game? Thanks. What environments are there? Is there any snow? I love the snow map in theHunter.
