DPfix Issues & Solutions

[Running Joke]

As many might or might not know; the guy that made Dark Souls fix now made one for Deadly Premonition.

Seems issues ABOUND with this fix and I am one of those affected. I would love to use it and have all the benefits of this amazing fix. Since there seem to be so many issues, I would love to compile a list of issues here and any solutions found to these issues so they can all be found in one place.

TL;DR: What issues are you having getting DSfix to work? Anyone got solutions to these issues?

1. After placing the files in the same folder as the .exe, I try to start the game and the screen stays black. No company logos appear and the only way to get out is to Ctrl+Alt+Delete and end the task. Any idea how to fix this? I figure it is a resolution thing.

I've got the exact same problem. It was working with 0.95 but I was having the lighting problem, so I replaced it with an earlier version. Now this is happening.

thanks for the tip i had the same problem trying to get it working in 2560x1440 reducing this to 1920x1080 fixed it

Same problem here. Black screen after you press play in the launcher. Using latest DPfix.

Edit: After letting the program load for a minute it started right up.

Rendering res: 1920x1080
displayed res: 1360x768

Edit: lowered render rest to 1376x774, result 40-60 fps

Durante mentions on the read me file that this might not work for everyone, he doesn't know the cause and there might (I'm not saying simply "there is not") be no solution. My launcher didn't even open with the latest DPFix , neither would the game if launched directly from the folder. Perhaps tweaking directly from GeDoSaTo instead of DPFix would work better, but I haven't tried it yet.

Hi all, I try to open the game and I click 'Play' but nothing happens. All that happens is 'are you sure you want to make changes to this computer?' and I click yes and nothing at all happens. So for the past hour or so I have been trying to uninstall and reinstall Physx driver or whatever is the name and that didn't work, tried opening DP.exe but that didn't work either. So I tried compatibility mode where I tried to run it in Windows XP, figured it might work cause its an older game, but no didn't work. Really want to play this game. When I try to open it in compatibility mode it says "catastrophic failure' error message.
Can anyone help me with this? thanks in advance

Hey y'all. I just did a fresh install of this game (had to reimage pc) and I haven't done any mods or anything. The game is running 60fps at 720p however it looks very choppy/laggy. Cutscenes are smooth. I'd like to note I never had an issue playing before (same computer; no mods). Do you think the DPfix will help me? Anyone else having this issue?

*Edit: Tried the DPfix... Still laggy. Fraps still reading 60fps. Don't understand. Game used to run just fine. Can't get it running smoothly. Any suggestions?

So the game started working fine for me. To the person above me (spooky scarn), to help with the lag you might also want to try keeping the game in window mode instead of fullscreen. =)

EDIT: By the way, what I did to get the game working, for me, was opening DP.exe through steam, not through your file explorer.

Thx lit but I got it working. Just had to set it up to run on one core only. Can run in windowed or fullscreen with no issues. No more lag thank god.

Besides all the lag and startup issues it seems to be a very good game story wise

:D I'm still in the beginning of the game but while it is dark there is also humor and voice acting seems well done
