Hitman: Contracts

Map "pauses" the game.
Normally the game countinues when you are in the map. But for some reason the game "pauses" whenever i'm in the map. The game runs normally in the sense that i can navigate the map and soom in and stuff. But all the things on the map just freezes in place as if the game stops simulating when im in the map... Very wierd. does anyone have a fix or know of this problem..

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4460 CPU @ 3.20GHz

Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750

RAM: 16 GB

Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (build 10586), 64-bit

thats kinda odd. are you accessing the map through the M key?

Nope its remapped to tab

I know this is an old thread but this hasn't been answered anywhere yet so here it goes, maybe I can help others in need who read this. In your Hitman Contracts folder, open HitmanContracts.ini with a notepad and add a new line "WINDOW 1". Make sure it's the last line of the file. Also, edit "StartUpper Pos 2,2" to 0,0. For safety, run it as admin and with compatibility mode Windows XP Service Pack 2 or Windows 98. Should fix everything wrong with the game.

I ended up fixing it but i cannot really remeber what i did but i would like to find out... i looked at the exe and the ini file and here is what i found.

The exe of the game is set to:

Run in combatability mode as Vista

Run as Admin

I seem to remember that it suddenly worked after haveing tried your suggestion and failed. This game seems to have a mind of its own i also remember that it someday just wouldn't boot up back when i had it on a cd.

Going to map pauses in my game—every Hitman game. I have never had game events happening while map is onscreen, so your "normally" isn't normal. I've played every single Hitman game, and it's always been this way for me. Something non-standard you are doing is making this happen.

Look up gameplay from either Hitman 2: Silent Assassin, Hitman: Contracts and Hitman: Blood Money and you'll see that using the map during missions doesn't pause the game. Npc icons move around the map. I think the reason its happening might be due to the fps being to high on the map screen since the game doens't have to render anything. These games doesn't really have an fps limiter that i know of. But i didn't have any problem with blood money. It's true that the newer Hitman games Hitman: Absolution and Hitman (2016) doesn't have the same map system as the older games since they have mini-maps and the instinct or whatever it's called. and while it works more or less the same way i just still prefer the way it worked in the older games....

All of these things are explained in the proper widescreen fix guide here on steam. The map pausing and the slow motion gameplay are caused by framerates being too high. Force vsync through control panel or limit it to 60 with a different program if you have a higher refresh rate than 60.
