Well practice is the first most important thing to do, the tutorials help greatly with the harder food recipes and chores (you'll especially want to practice the robbery chore, it's very rare but the most annoying chore). The other thing is the foods you have on your menu; the more complicated the recipes, the harder the game can get. You should also get the upgrades to reduce the chores and increase customer wait times as soon as they become available, as they can significantly reduce the amount of stress that occurs during Rush Hour sequences.

As for simple food recipes that can always be used (as pretzels and corn dogs can't be used on 2-star or higher rank) and give a good amount of income, I recommend Fresh Fish, Beer, Chicken Breast and Coffee (which you unlock later on) for a good selection to fall back on until you want to try the harder recipes (I recommend fish and chicken because the recipes barely change even with maximum upgrades, and are both sold for $20 when fully upgraded). Keep in mind you only need 3 foods on at a time to start each day, you don't have to have all menu slots filled if you don't want to.

No the practice is fine. I made it to my first rush hour... impossible. 3 people coming in + a chore?

Use the keys, not the mouse. Also you will get used to key patterns.

Use a Controller or a Keyboard, Mouse is the worst thing you can use.

Gotta go fast. The game takes training to master. Start with easy stuff. The only thing I find annoyingly difficult is the thief "chore"

I found some foods (and the robbery chore) easier with the mouse, but yeah keyboard is generally the best option. It's ultimately up to the player whether they use the mouse at all though.

Yeah, a combination would probably be best with some things. But people who use exclusively the mouse will fail.

I just got this game yesterday, seems impossible at first, now I did my first year with probably 15 Perfect days. It's all about using the right dishes and getting the upgrades.

Good Easy dishes to start with

Beer - Easy & Fast. Down arrow until full
Wine - Easy - Up arrow until uncorked
Salad - Fresh and easy - Look at the first letter of each ingredient and that is the hotkey. Example - Ranch, Cheese, Bacon & Crutons, Onions & Peppers = R,C,B,O. Practise a few times and this is easy
Chicken = Easy and gives you time. 6 x T + S to tenderise & season. It takes awhile to cook which can give you time to deal with other matters.

Chicken and the first steak are easy. Steak is either 3-1-0 cook or 1-2-1 cook. done. lasagna is easy too, but be careful not to go too fast. Also Corn dogs and pretzels obviously.

rebinding your keys can make all the difference in the world. for me, anything with a simple 1 button gets put on A. a lot of things are ASDF like rat trap or cooking fish. just ASDF enter. Keep in mind for anything with a 2nd page of stuff (pizza, burger, soup etc), it is best not to rebind keys.

I would reccomend starting with Prestzels, Beer, Corndogs, and Ice Cream.

I agree it can be kind of stressful in the rush. Listen don't worry about it we all have trouble.

At first it was hard for me too. After some time I got comfortable with some recipes. In my opinion the best thing is to practice the soup and the salad because you can keep these two in your menu all the time. Soup is rather difficult at the beginning but once you are good at making it, it can save you from time to time.
If you think Crazy Dave's bets are too hard just ignore them. You won't lose anything if you ignore them.
One of the best features about new food is you can practice it before you purchase it. That way you can skip food you dislike to prepare.
Fish and chicken breast are also really easy to prepare.

Edit: So sorry..missed how old this thread was. Sorry for the necro.

I just got the game today. The first few days were very hard for me but I am getting better. On the first day I had soda and I forgot to practice it...it wasn't a pretty sight.
I use the mouse for some things and the keys for others...keys for washing dishing is much, much faster. It might take you some time to find your groove but don't give up!

And don't be afraid to fail some dishes, especially when you unlock new ones or upgrade without practice. I'm pretty sure all it can do is give you negative buzz which will bring less customers giving you more time. I've found that taking it slow outside of the rush works out much better than trying to prepare quickly, know what key you are pushing and aim for perfection even if it takes more time. Before long you will be throwing orders up like you are playing the piano, then try the insane new game+ mode.

- a couple months isn't that old, if it was from 2015 then yeah, I wouldn't sweat it as long as you're adding something not just saying "LOL!"
Oh Hai Mark Jan 29, 2017 @ 1:31pm
you will HAVE to get used to keys. personally I use a combination of mouse and keys. whatever works.
