This verses Train Simulator 2013
Which is better in terms of content, mod support and which is the DLC better for?

In more detail, I want to know which game I should get, measured in amount of content (trains, routes, etc), mod support (adding mods with more trains, routes etc) and I want to know which is the DLC worth most in content vs money for.

This is a starting point. http://www.trainzportal.com/product_ts12.php
If you click any of the Quick links on the bottom it will bring you to their newest page.

You have to hunt around a bit.

Also you can peek around their forum. http://forums.auran.com/trainz/index.php

So, approximately how many trains and routes does it have?
Also, I heard that the development of additional DLC and games has stopped, is this true?

I comes with the routes listed on the store page.
If you had the 2010 version you would be able to import them into 2012.

Also who and what authority said (the development of additional DLC and games has stopped)?

Looks alive to me. I forgot this. http://forums.auran.com/trainz/forum.php

Right, that's already 3 times the amount of routes on TS2013, but how many trains are there?

Also, ironically, I read that on the TS2013 website.

Depends how much money you want to spend. The Trainz games are a lot better personally. 90% of the extra content is free and it's really easy to create your own content too. Building your own routes is easy and can come out photo-realistic depending how much time you spend on it.

Nice, I think I'll get that at some point. Know any good (freeware) mod sites?

train simulator 2013 wins this arguement hand down better graphics, sounds, effects, gameplay, scenarios, maps, a working multiplayer of sorts, and plenty of DLC
our friends over at auran games are stuck in the graphics that game them a name back in 2006 with a moving tree effect as their big selling point, TRainz railroad simulators have become a dead thing of the past, and this is comming from someone who used to defend it with their life, but auran has half ♥♥♥♥♥ all projects since 2008, leaving much to be desired in the way of rollinggstock locomotives, and maps, when your in your railyard on ts12 you'll notice a NYC heavy 2-8-2 tender, this has been sitting in the inventory there since 2006 and still no locomotive has been produced not even on DLC

the next issue is unfinished maps, with a lack of cinematic views, unfinished segments of the line, rendering issues, and fauly switches with reversed controls on the levers making gameplay confusing and frustrating

Thats ok, there wasn't a reason to dig up a 3 month old thread.
I'm getting TS2012 and then 2013.
