Are they going to FIX this any time soon?
A lot of people seem to be having trouble getting the game to run. Others are having crashes due to slo-mo or picking up items. When I google the game I can't even find any official website for it. I click play and get a black screen and immediately get booted back to desktop. Sometimes it says the app is running. Sometime's it says the servers are busy. Either way, it's extremely frustrating. I've tried ALL the 'fixes', validating, updating drivers, turning off overlay, running in compat/admin, etc. Nothing works.

tl;dr: Are they going to release a game fixing patch any time soon? I'd really like to play this game.

Aggh...watching Let's Plays of this makes me want to play even more!!!
Butthead Oct 31, 2013 @ 1:06pm
I know your pain.
I bought three games before work yesterday.
This, Nether and Walking Dead Season 2.
This refuses to work despite every fix I've tried, Nether is down at the moment and Walking Dead Season 2 doesn't come out till November.
I didn't find out till AFTER 12 hours of wanting to play really bad.

I feel kind of cheated of my money. </3

What makes me really worried about this title is that the developer is called Modern Dream. Something I've never heard of. I googled them and found a game dev website by the same name, the game isn't even listed on there though so I'm really worried. If Sega is just the publisher of this title I'm woried that there won't be any fixes for those of us who can't even get the game to start. I really hope things work out. :( </3

Great. I just did a little more digging on modern-dream.com and found that they are a team of THREE people. One is clearly defined as a programmer, one as music, and the other, who knows. So my hopes are getting smashed into the ground that this team will do anything for us. If there is not a fix released very soon I am going to try and get a refund. EDIT: I emailed the head of Modern-Dream letting him know the woes the steam community are experiencing. I have made it clear that if there is not a fix released soon that I will be demanding a full refund and urging others to do the same. I refuse to be robbed.

Thank you. I bought this game on release and have tried everything to get it running- going to work for a refund if they continue to be quiet about this.

I can understand that concern.
It worries me as well, but I'm holding out for the hopes that they actually do care about the ones who can't get it working. :D

Well the e-mail is out. I'm going to wait a week or two for either a response or a fix. Trust me, I don't want to ask for a refund I want to play the game. As a kid I loved playing the original TOTD for dreamcast and was so excited when I saw this one on steam. I want nothing more than to kill zombies with my nimble fingers. I will keep everyone posted as far as a response from M.D goes.

On the sega stream. They told me to talk to customer service and aparently he had been looking at the steam forums. My game crashes 2 min in to the game.

They probably won't be releasing any "FIX" patch because the game is not broken, also God knows who is incharge of ports. The issue mostlikely exists because of your hardware not the software. I've had games where all my specs meet the requirements, but alas the game still acts funky.

Have you tried any other computers? What are your specs?

The reason you can't find a website for it because there is no game called "Typing of the Dead:Overkill" . I repeat, if you are googling this name, you won't find anything, you are googling the wrong name.

This is kind of a modified port of the PS3 game "House of the Dead:Overkill", the typing aspect was added to improve PC sales (Thus your three man team (Modern Dream was probably incharge of converting systems and adding the typing)).

The fact it's a port might also be what's causing you some issues.

I have raised a ticket with Steam to have the game removed from my account and my money refunded. This game does nothing but crash within 5 minutes of playing (Seems to be when using the Slo-Mo pickup) I have tried many things to resolve this but nothing has suceeded.

Theres no point keeping a game thataint gonna work, just need to await the response from Valve now on my refund.

If you read the service agreement you sign TWICE before you buy something. The second a game hits your Library List, there are no refunds. Period. The ONLY refunds they give are on pre-orders (if it's not in your Library).

Like... you contractually agreed to that. Whether you received a working product or not.

That's why you get all these third party teams of three people that convert a PS3 or Xbox games to PC on their freetime and start mass distribution not looking at whether it works 100% of the time for everyone.

Steam really sucks when it comes to customer care.

But keep trying! Like I said, there are more people enjoying this game then stressing over crashes. Maybe it'll just start working one day.
I had that happen with my Oddworld port.

We'll see. People have been refund previosuly and had a game removed from there Steam Account.

If a product is not working then a refund should be issued.

You can get a product removed from your library 100% just by asking.

But I don't know if I would believe people that say they've gotten refunded.

Here is the policy

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=8360-wejc-2625#refund

"As with most software products, we do not offer refunds or exchanges on games, DLC or in-game items purchased on our website or through the Steam Client. Please review Section 3 of the Steam Subscriber Agreement for more information.

An exception is made for games purchased during a pre-order period if the request is received prior to the games' release date"

yada yada yada they go on to say.... (and this isn't me doing CAPS, it's copy and pasted from the contract like that lmao!)

"ALL CHARGES INCURRED ON STEAM, AND ALL PURCHASES MADE WITH THE STEAM WALLET, ARE PAYABLE IN ADVANCE AND ARE NOT REFUNDABLE IN WHOLE OR IN PART, REGARDLESS OF THE PAYMENT METHOD, EXCEPT AS EXPRESSLY SET FORTH IN THIS AGREEMENT."

Also, think about it. How are they going to give you your money back? It's all automated, they don't have a pile of cash or "virtual credit" lying around. I doubt they wait around with the cash after they get it too. The second you buy the game some money goes to Steam banks and the rest goes to the developers. Tracking that cash down would be more trouble then one customer is worth (if it's not spent or invested automatically (after all Steam is ALL automatic)). AND there isn't even a good support team (which ♥♥♥♥es me off (how can I not ♥♥♥♥ing CALL someone?)).

Also, before you go rocking the boat too much.

Here, look at this man. There are hundreds of posts and blogs just like this:
"However, Steam decided to ban his account for a terms of service violation."

Your terms of service is the box you check before you buy something. I've heard rumors that fighting staff about getting a refund too much will result in a ban because you're violating the terms of service (which states that what you bought is your problem).
