Here's what AVG has to say about it:

Win/Heim is a malicious software that once it is exceuted has the capability of replicating itself and infect other files and programs. These type of malware, called Viruses, can steal hard disk space and memory that slows down or completely halts your PC. It can also corrupt or delete data, erase your hard drive, steal personal information, hijack your screen and spam your contacts to spread itself to other users. Usually, a Virus is received as an attachment on an email or instant message.Win/Heim is currently ranked 231 in the world of online malware.

Looks like another sega game (football manager) has the same issue:

I have my doubts tha sega would intentionally distrobute a virus/malware (why would they even need too it doesnt make sense (they already have code execution privilages on your machine because you installed the game :P). One can only speculate what it is. Maybe someone at their office has a virus on their computer and infected the executable before they deployed it ? I dunno anyway...

AVG caught the same virus for me, I'm so disapointed I was really looking forward to playing it!

Does anyone know how long the virus has been part of the game, or what exactly this particular virus does?

I downloaded the game ages ago and just got around to playing it today. I'm having crashing issues, and found this thread while looking to see if anyone was having the same issue I was.

Yeah.. the game won't even launch after AVG quarantined the virus..

I'm in the same situation as you Jada; I bought this at launch, installed it, and was able to play it without any problems. It seems to have happened some time after launch.

-Edit- but now when I tried re-installing it (months later) I keep getting virus..

I keep trying to reply to you but it won't submit.

Edit: And it won't even let me edit in what I was trying to say. Damnit.

Sounds like a lot of attention seeking here.

Can Steam or developers comment on this please?

I got the same warning by AVG :(

I wonder if it's a false positive or if there is indeed something bad. Either way it sucks...

I noticed on the Library entry for this game, there is an entry for "Football Manager DLC" under the installed content. Anyone think this was included somewhere in the .exe and this is why AVG pops it as a virus?
Has anyone tried running the file through www.virustotal.com (runs the file by the database of every known virus software to see if it's just one program's false positive)? When I tried, I was told I needed admin access to the file (even though i AM the admin), and wouldn't let me upload it.
Any ideas on how to fix the issue?
EDIT: Also, does anyone know why a zombie typing game would have a DLC entry for Football Manager in the first place?

Some people are clearly unfamiliar with what a "false positive" is. A zombie typing game would have a DLC entry for Football Manager because a zombie typing game is not a serious game.

Samson: I was able to post and edit, too. It's just that specific post always said "communication error" when I tried to post it for some reason, even when trying to edit it in to another post.

Maybe it's because I repeatedly used the names of some programs in it.

Anyways, I scanned the crap out of my computer last night, and there are no viruses, but the game was still crashing.

Putting the game into XP service pack 3 compatibility mode seems to have resolved the crashing issue.
Samson Jun 17, 2015 @ 8:23am
Jada, oh okay. It seems like we have completely different problems. Yours was crashing where mine is picking up a virus when installing.

BanzaiRoundCat, I can try to run the executable through that website when I download the game again. Every time AVG quarantines the virus, the affected executable no longer works which means that I have to download it and install through Steam each time if I want to try it again. And I don't want go use up all of my bandwidth because this is the second time I've downloaded the game in the past couple of days.
NovaAteBatman Jun 17, 2015 @ 3:50pm
Yeah, it does seem that we ended up having two different problems after all.

Are you absolutely sure that it's a virus? Have you looked up (online) the file that AVG is quarantining?
Akarinata Jun 19, 2015 @ 2:44am
This thread looks like it's about a couple of teenagers relying on AVG too much, assuming it's always correct when in fact it's breaking their games and broadly defining certain files as "viruses". Just letting you know, been on Steam downloading games for over 3 years, from just about every publisher, and never gotten a virus. Stop trusting AVG so much.

Bias aside, AVG isn't as good a anti-malware program as Malwarebytes or even Microsoft Security Essentials is.
