the assassination system is a bit stupid.
while i like this game, i like the game play, i just hate that i cannot win at usa no mater what i do. and hear are the reasons why,

1 the liberals always try to kill me off, even if i try to make them happy. they started attacking me while i was in the yellow.

2 security effectiveness is always poor, even thou in reality that makes no sense, game logic would have effectiveness be associated with military spending and intelligence. so how Germany who has little to no military spending have near perfect security effectiveness. while usa who has almost everything maxed out have the worst in the entire game.

3 also if your going to bother with the assassinations please for the love of god remove the save or something, all you have to do is hit the auto save load and your back were you were. and i gone for around 10 years doing that. till i lost my save due to curroption or something..

that said i like this game but the usa is impossible to win at.

I must agree, the assassination system does need some tweaking and balancing. There should most certainly be a measure to increase spending on personal security to counter it and prevent unwanted assassinations. We also need more random (minor) assassination events to create a need to focus and pay attention to these things outside of terror plots.

USA is a mess, leave that country to rot and save yourself!

No matter what you do, some extremists will hate and the economy is always collapasing.

My best result from messing with USA was removing almost all of the social problems but the debt was still high. It was almost as high as when I started. I don't think one president can reduce it without letting its citizens to rot.

ya but thats so stupid, there should be no unwindable scenario. its a video game not real life, then again you dont have to deal with the democracy.. if you think about it. but real politics aside its a game. no scenario should be unwindable, and besides the high dept which is manageable if you know what your doing. there is plenty of ways you could play it. that said the militant fraction system is so broken, that there is no way to address any of these issues in game. as the key things that would normally addresses it do not, aka military.

You're supposed to be assassinated when you're a good person. So the game already failed to deliver that part.

thats the thing its only when you play as the usa, i had a game of germany go perfect until the game save got corrupted

@rman88
At what difficulty are you playing the USA scenario and do you play with the disaster and emergency mod or without?
Without the mod the USA scenario is winnable at any difficulty. You just have to do the right choices right from the beginning.
With the mod active it is extremely hard to win even on 100% difficulty.

no mods, no special gimmicks. but no, Germany is easy, England is easy, usa is near impossible due to the way its setup. ether that or there is a bug with security efficiency, because there is no way to improve it. then agian when i was running Germany my efficiency was at very good, even thou its starts out as inefficient.

that said i played that country over 20 different times, trying out different strategies and no mater what i do i always gets assassinated. even on my best shot the liberals still killed me even thou they were in the yellow.

note while i might not be a expert, i am no fool as i can take any other country and run it easily but the us is near impossible.

Hm, that's weird. I don't have any problems with being assassinated even on 200% difficulty. The only problem is the game is unforgiving when doing the wrong decisions at the start.

A bit stupid? That's an understatement. Where do western heads of state get killed by "liberals"? I got killed by christian extremists: when did that happen anywhere?

USA near impossible.... wut?

Maybe if you're haphazardly doing stuff and don't really know what you're doing =/

But, I've been through all this before and people just insist it's broken (without even bothering to really explore the mechanics/etc.).

Seriously though, it's not that difficult.

The screenshots below are nothing special (I have seen people upload USA victories with everything green), but it's just to show that USA Is not "unwinnable."

FYI, this is no mods, at preset difficulty, 2 terms, USA:

I acually have trouble with Canada. I was doing practically perfectly. I got 90 % of the vote, GDP was around the middle, but that was because of a reccesion, There was no crime what so ever, Healthcare was the best in the world, so was education, etc, etc, And suddenly, because I wanted to stop The brain drain, so what I did was decrease company taxes.

A year later, A bunch of ragtag liburaaaals decided it was a good idea to end my term early. It is quite crazy. If I suport Religious, Capitalists, Conservatives, etc, Liberals and Socialists get ♥♥♥♥ed of. When I do the opposite, I to get assassinated. I have my security at the maximum of the slider bar, and I still die. Well, I guess this game simulates realism.

lol, security at maximum ♥♥♥♥es liberals off. No wonder you get assassinated by them. Unless there are vigilante mobs running in the streets or Capone decided to do business in your city, you never need to have anything other than prisons, police, neighbourhood watch and intelligence service.
Switching a slider all to the left or right may create a big red bar growing as well and you should look what it is affecting and if you need to adjust some other policy as well.

I just played my very first game, and won as the USA. I just did what I would do as president. Get rid of private prisons, cut military spending and pentions, legalize prostitution and cannibis, tax both. Set heavy focus on teen outreach programs and prisoner rehabilitation. By the time my two terms was up the debt was significantly reduced and crime was almost a non issue.

I did almost get assassinated by a black power group though at one point. I managed to fix that by relaxing some immigration standards and setting up some pro minorities polocies though.
rman88 Oct 22, 2013 @ 8:11am
umm you do realize security efficient prevents you form getting assassinated right.because i got over 80 percent of the vote and they still tried to kill me. that said the us is the only country i ever have a problems with.
