This Game is a Huge Failure for Serious Game Players. Don't Waste Your Money Until it is Fixed.
I have had directional problems all through this game after chapter 3. The final straw was the part on climbing of the huge bridge where you have a very short time to make the jump before the platform collapses and you die. I first realized the problem was real bad when Trip asks to be thrown to the next platform and I couldn't perform the task because you have to be in just the right spot to make the throw diagonally to the next platform. This was not a real bad problem as you have plenty of time on this particular platform to find just the right place to make the throw (still frustrating). Then you have to put Trip on your back to make the rest of the jumps. Still not the problem.
The real killer of the game is I could not find the "sweet" spot on the last platform in order to make the jump before time ran out and the plantform collapses in a VERY short time. You have to jump diagonally from left to right and the direction buttons are only up, down, right and left. I could never find the "sweet spot" in time to make the jump and finally gave up on the game. I made the attempt at least 30 times in one night and there were several nights. I've taken the game off of my PC because of this flaw. I spent 7 hours and $20.00 dollars for a huge game failure. Disappoint doesn't describe my frustration over something that should not be in a game of this caliber.

I did i think on my 2nd attempt using a 360 pad. Maybe platform games aren't for you?

The problem isn't the game so there is nothing to fix. Serious game players I'm sure won't have any issues as the platforming in this game is seriously dumbed down, to the point of you just having to spam the jump button.

I would recommend it for the story and characters, and the dumb-but-fun combat. Once you tweak it to get propper AA and shadows the graphic style looks great. Anyone with nvidia 3D should also give it a try, it looks amazing.

Ah, another place for my spree - think I already replied in that other thread, but maybe others will look here first. You CAN move diagonally, that should fix all problems related to that issue:

Congratulations on your completion of the game. I really don't believe I should have to buy a game pad in order to play a game that is designed for the PC. Thanks

It's not designed for a PC, it's a console port.

You don't have to buy a gamepad, really not. I beat it entirely with keyboard and mouse. It worked fine, save for the occasional "Huh, now that the camera angle has changed, the Up key suddenly doesn't make him continue walking in the same direction." But that just meant pressing the new direction key and done.

I always laugh at PC gamers who try to play games like this with a mouse and keyboard instead of a controller like any person with an ounce of sense would do. You guys must be masochists because I see people whining about trying to play games like this without a controller and it not working out for them all the time.

Yeah yeah yeah, we're all members of the master race and we're better than those filthy console peasants, but a mouse and keyboard isn't better for everything you dimwits. You're even more embarrassing than the console peasants when you refuse to pick up a controller just because you're a PC gamer.

Good lord, why so worked up? It's not sounding like a great PC port. Are we suprised?

That's what I'd read about it. It's always a good idea to do some research before buying a PC port as they vary obviously.

If you have a PS3 and PS+ account it's on sale right now.

Hi Gay Weed. Does being insulting to people you have never met make you feel better about your being stupid and of no real consequence to life in general. Small people always do that. Comments like yours only show your immature arrogance. Put down the joint, tell your boyfriend to take his hand out of your pants and grow up.

Still, GayWeed was right.

It's a console port. Also, PC's have had controllers since some of the very first PC's. I don't know where this whole, "if it's on the PC it has to perfectly support the mouse and keyboard" stuff comes from. It's never been like that. Ever. It's always been an environment where you use the best input peripheral for the type of game you're playing. Is it nice if the mouse/keyboard is supported properly? Hell yes. But should you be super upset if it's not? Not really since controllers are ridiculously cheap. I switch between controller inputs constantly depending on the game/genre and it's really quite easy.

CalUKGR,
Its not what Gay Weed said, its how he said it. I thought this was a forum for help and information, not arrogant AH's that have to be insulting.

I appreciate the way you responded to my statement, it's s a great example concerning how to answer a statement or question without being condescending. I'll look into game pads.

Not really. Even the worst PC ports are better than their console peasant originals. Saints Row 2, Dark Souls, Deadly Premonition, all best on PC. I can think of just one game where the PC version was demonstrably worse than the console peasant edition: the original release of Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing. And that's only because SEGA decided to omit online multiplater, a key component of any racing game from the PC version. Technically it was superior in every single way.

You can cry about this being a "bad port" all you want to but the fact still stands that with a fast and easy .ini file modification you can get this game running at native 1080p, remove any framerate locks, crank up the view distance, anisotrophic filtering, etc. It supports Sparse Grid Supersample Anti-aliasing like a champ as well. And it has native Xbox 360 controller support to boot so it's not like the console version has any advantages there.

But yeah, you have fun with your 720p locked, 30 FPS, zero anti-aliasing overpriced console peasant original version of the game. The rest of us will be playing this so-called "bad port" on PC at 1080p+, 60+ FPS, with super-sampling for ten bucks.

Honestly, there is no excuse for trying to play a 3rd person platformer with a mouse and keyboard, everyone should know better, and the devs shouldn't even support it.
nealiosis 1月23日下午5:50
Holy cow... you guys played this with a keyboard and mouse??? Too hard core for my blood. I wouldn't game on a PC at all if I had to do it with a keyboard and mouse.
