This controller has worked in previous versions, although I couldn't tell you which ones exactly. They were versions of the game with the pre-game video/control configuration window.
Smashing my A button on my gamepad when hitting "Apply" allows me to change resolution, the message pops up, and everything is fine.
Figured out the issue, I have to use BumbleBee for my laptop and starting primus via "optirun -b primus %command%" fixed my issue with no sound. Hope this helps anyone else.
In fact I can't see anymore the name of each stage, sometimes I can notice that there's some flickering going on.
Also rebooting PC and Steam doesn't fix the issue, although sometimes quitting and launching again the game does the trick - well, not the last 2 times I have tried it just now, that's why I am reporting it.
The problem is that when you select a stage with the controller, the name of the stage and all the other stuff such as the stars etc is not updated, whereas mouse over works better.
So I think that it's the selection via controller that is a little buggy.
Hey, thanks for making such a fun game! Unfortunately I am also afflicted with the dreaded controller bug on Linux where buttons aren't registering properly. I'm currently running 64-bit Kubuntu 18.04 with a wired XB360 controller, though other USB gamepads are also affected with the same issue.
I had a no sound problem with mageia linux and today I had the same problem with Ubuntu 23.04
I fix it with the next command:
sudo touch /usr/bin/pulseaudio
sudo chmod 0755 /usr/bin/pulseaudio
