Fullscreen stuttering with vsync
Hi, I've been testing and changing frame limitter, vsync and fullscreen/windowed mode options and this is what happens:

Nvidia control panel vsync: "Use the 3D application setting"
-Fullscreen ON, Frame limiter 60 -> stuttering
-Fullscreen ON, Frame limiter OFF -> game runs smooth but has screen tearing
-Fullscreen OFF, Frame limiter 60 -> OK
-Fullscreen OFF, Frame limiter OFF -> game runs smooth but has screen tearing

Nvidia control panel vsync: ON
-Fullscreen ON, Frame limiter OFF -> stuttering
-Fullscreen OFF, Frame limiter OFF -> OK

The only valid settings are windowed mode with either vsync ON or 60fps frame limiter. If I use ShiftWindow to force the game to fullscreen (but with in-game fullscreen off) the game runs smooth too. So I think there's a problem with in-game fullscreen mode and frame limitter/vsync. Is this a known issue?

My specs are: Intel Core 2 Duo E6750@2.66GHz, GeForce 8800 GT (331.82 driver), 4GB RAM, Windows 8.

Stuttering
Some minor stuttering throughout, but I only had a problem with it when fighting Groove Wizard (the part where you have to fly around and avoid his attacks till the song ends). Whenever he launches multiple missiles at once, the game stutters for a split second. This is a problem if you're moving down at that moment, because more than likely you'll hit the bottom of the level.

Managed to beat the boss regardless but only because the stuttering was reliably happening when the missiles were launched, so I could make sure I was moving up at the right times.

Bumping this, as I have the same issue. On pretty much every level, after spawning, it stutters. I have an i5-4670 and GTX 770, on an SSD, so it's not my specs. It clears up after a while, but at first, you can visibly see 2 copies of the character as he's running. Fraps still reports it at 60fps, though.

I had the same issue. It made the boss harder because of this.

There are serious problems with VSync in Unity3D. I have horizontal tearing in all games made with it, no matter what settings I choose.

And yes, I think it's true that Unity3D never actually goes fullscreen so it can't use VSync at all...

Part of the problem is the amount of alpha blending and overdarw happening at any given time. I'm working to optimize these, but don't expect anything in the near future.

movement is always stuttering, regardless of the cap

use level1 to test, hit one of the checkpoints, notice it's spinning smoothly but your movement isnt

blaxpirit, give me some specs, i've never had unity specific problems, at least 3d ones

dev, escape going to title screen when you're in the options is very confusing... esc should be the back button & only go to the title screen when you're in the main menu

I also have this problem. Either I have screen tearing (which produces light stuttering too) or stuttering/no smooth moving or I have input lag. Tried 60 FPS Limiter, VSync ON/OFF, Fullscreen ON/OFF no matter I do I always have one of these 3 things. The only way to play is to limit by 58 frames and only have slight stutter but in some levels it still keeps me from having a fun experience.
Only workaround for now will be getting a 120hz monitor and hope that I can get rid of screentearing that way with the rest working...

the only thing i can think of that will always inprove frame rate is killing procceses and terminating programs that are unneccecary

just a hint: dont kill a random proccess and your game is fixed, cause it works fine if it works
