TL;DR I love this, my favorite game despite it's flaws.
-Great Graphics by voxel sandards.
-Great if not at times a bit too realistic space flight mechanics (just throw more thrusters on that side bud.)
-AMAZING Devs who comunicate with players, implement players ideas regularly, release fantastic new content weekly, and when said fantastic releases cause bugs, as does tend to happen in most alpha games, they are fixed within 1-2 days.
-A fantastic modding community making the game that much better all the time. (highly reccomend: Stargate by Quegga[my most favorite mod], armor thrusters, BFR, titan engine, Darth Biomech everything, Dark Mechanicus everything, azimuth everything, deadtech everything, sage everything, Kolt command consoles, Riptide pack, there are others that escape me.)
-A Really intricate and well thought out control panel system that is the key to the whole game, as well as a newly implemented prgrammable block that use C# to take full advatage of the system.
-the mining of resources from asteroids mesh warps the 3d model of an asteroid to achieve a really realistic digging experience, though because of this method occasionally splines get twisted resulting in what looks like a pebble but is actually an immovable death spike that would sink the titanic twice before breakfast, It's not often enough to cause much issue, and if you notice them, hitting them with a drill usually takes them out.
-A fully realized conveyor system that could be mining ship -> refinery -> assembler -> cargo bays -> to welder ships/ other ship cargo, will make you feel like a genius.
-Pistons and rotors: For what they occasionally work for in single player, for now.
-Piston and Rotors: For their sheer destructive power. These things work beautifully on stations (in single player) most of the time, because stations don't move. The pistons snap like twigs and coming to a full stop on a large ship will likely take them out along with half your ship, until it is fixed (which I have no doubt it will be, I have much faith in KSH) i would reccomend the Big Gate mod by Darth Biomech for your ship hangar needs and then build smaller small ships. [you could use the stargate mod too.] Rotors are insane as well and i wouldn't use them on a large ship for anything but spinning lights. They are not to bad on stations.
-The top speed for anything is 104.9m/s which works out to 377.6 km/h which is pretty slow by space standards. I'd like to see it doubled.(Though I've placed stargates 2 km away from eachother, who am I to judge?)
-Not many graphics options making it difficult to run on midhigh-range rigs.
-Multiplayer needs optimization and servers are very slow if you don't have the best internet speeds. Extremely jenky. playing P2P isn't bad if your friend lives close by, but still don't attempt use of rotors and pistons.
-The Auto turrets are too good and need to be nerfed.
-Needs a Beast Rig if you want to build big, midhigh-range rigs should probably stick to ship not much bigger than the Millenium falcon or Serenity if you want to keep your performance. I Imagine a top-line rig would be required for your enterprises and your star destroyers, I loaded up the scale Enteprise D from the workshop and could hardly take two steps. Also keeping your builds far apart helps.
Despite the bad, the good makes Space Engineers a 10/10 for me.
I love this game and I see great potential for it's future.
And KSH I forgive you for stealing this game from my dreams.
