This game...why would you even buy it in the first place? I mean seriously, look at it...

Exactly. Look at it. It's a fighter game that takes combos completely out of the equation and relies solely on timing and reaction.

But yeah, the online's pretty dead... Still a lot of fun with a group of friends, though. It's fast-paced enough that you can have people switching out often, and leisurely enough that it doesn't take much effort to pick up and play.

I wouldn't say it isn't worth buying because of the online... As long as you have some friends, it'll supply good fun. Singleplayer is just running gauntlets with each character, but that isn't necessarily bad.

They should have just put it up on New_grounds, Kongregate, etc. instead.

just join a divekick group. Find people who have and play the game. Invite them to play.. Yes the game is dead but for a few bucks with the coupon it's worth buying.

It's dead. The game is pretty awful too. All the people who try to sell it as some sort of core fighting game experience are full of it. It's essentially a fighter if you took out all of the the depth, so in other words a shallow, meaningless experience. It's just a gimmick, which is why it died shortly after release.

I disagree. Its pretty much the only fighter these days that I enjoyed. Removing the combos really made the game a lot easier to pick up. Despite its appearance it seems to take a lot of skill as well.

I've not played any multiplayer yet, but I'm looking forward to doing some local versus later tonight.

The game isn't more accessible simply because it lacks combos, it's more accessible because it lacks everything except reaction time and a few basic strategies. Learning combos isn't really all that difficult, but learning frame data, priority, and how to select the best move for the situation in a large number of possible scenarios is the difficult part of fighters.

If we were just talking about a fighter with absolutely no combos, I'd think that was awesome, but we are talking about a fighter that lacks all the depth of a fighter. I'd say Divekick is more comparable that that game some people play as a kid, where they take turns trying to slap that other person's hand, than an actual fighter. If the game was literally the exact same concept, except without all the fighting game references, and i used spaceships instead the current cast, no one would ever call it a fighter.

The $2.50 sale probably helped a lot. I haven't had trouble finding matches.

That's the trouble with the pricing structure for this game. It should normally be something like $2.99 then continue to have the coupons. There was a jump at $2.50 during the 75% sale, now at the 50% sale at $4.99 the population is falling like a rock again.
