I have few ingame hours since I usually play local VS on another account.
This is chess disguised as a fighting game.
In most games, where you think you are fighting your adversary (Street Fighter or StarCraft come to mind, it doesn't matter the genre) you actually fighting the game. Until you achieve mastery of the game and, usually, professional gamer status, you aren't fully fighting your adversary.
You have two buttons: One for jumping and one for kicking. No directional input at all. Distance is managed through jumps and kicks. All characters also have two special moves (pressing both buttons at the same time).
That's it. A couple of games and you have mastered most characters moveset, and you may then play your adversary fully in control of your character.
I have played with people who don't like video games and thought of the game as ridiculous (myself included) who came to love it and played it for hours.
This game is played at EVO and there are regular online tournaments, some with prizes.
Also, excellent party game.
