?? i can't get out of the first cave
This game really needs some form of instructions/ tutorial. Everytime i try and leave the intial starting area he jsut just runs back like he's hit an invisable wall. With no explanation why.
Not exactly a great first impression ;)

Anyone know why this is happening.

Thanks

yeah, it's not as self explanatory as most modern games. Take the turnip to the sick Badger.

Really? That's what you have to do?

I thought the damn thing was dead. Poorly thought out game imo and I agree with OP. Bad first impression.

Yeah, it needs neon hud and big pointing arrow so you won't get lost in your own den. And mission objectives, step by step preferably. That would be so well thought indeed...NOT!

But I can't blame you, its because of those braindead mainstream titles which dumb down everything that players lately have troubles thinking outside the box.

yeah because that you dont think about feeding something which seems to be death is stupid. they could at least animate it a bit so that you see its still alive.

I thought it was dead too.

I thought so too, that its dead and beyond saving. But I figured it out 2 minutes later. However I can understand that it might be flustrating to some, since it reflects ones flaws. But its more convenient to blame the game, rather than be honest with oneself.

Dropped the turnip on the "dead" badger, nothing happened. Tried to walk out of the cave, inexplicably got turned around, looked like a bug more than anything. Pretty sure that's game design. I'm not really sure what your point is, perhaps you're calling me stupid.

I don't see myself calling you names, nor anyone else. If you feel like that...well then its not my problem more so.

Tip of the day: Dropping turnip near badger's mouth instead of its rump is the way to go in this game.

Some indication that the poor bugger is alive could have helped... There is a fine line with leaving a player to figure out things on his own and just letting him hang out there to dry. The line borders on the moment when you just start combining random stuff in your inventory in a desperate attempt that some combination, no matter how seemingly illogical, might work. We were all there at some point or another. Being indie does not justify bad gameplay design.

I am sooo stupid. You just have to feed that already dead and rotten looking thing with the turnip from the next chamber! That's what I call logic and good gameplay. /sarkasm

Seriously, I poked the turnip for about 10min right in its face until it finally ate it, and that just because someone here said that this is what one has to do. Since these two are the only objects of interest at the beginning, I tried that before, but it didn't work at all. Seems like you have to hit a very small area with the turnip to make it work.

1. If the little badger is ill, then MAKE IT LOOK ILL and not "already dead since two days". Give him a little colour and make him move a bit.
2. Increase the area which triggers the eating-event.

Why the hell is that thing even starving (like it didn't eat for days) when it's mother has a turnip right in the next chamber? O_o

This is in no way "dumbing down people with mainstream games", that's just bad design.

I had the same problem. It actually does die after a while - once I worked it out it was too late and wouldn't eat. I restarted, fed the thing, and then all was ok. Until they all died various horrible deaths of course...

I also thought it was dead. its not even moving. I took the turnip around, but im frustrated why their are invisible walls. if its an exploratory game it should let you out.

the thing is that it should teach you that you need to feed them and the colorless they are the more you should be concerned about that one. the first minutes i just gave food to them randomly dont even noticing they change color and that you need to give them food seperate. these are some small things you should figure out by yourself which could be made better at the beginning but beside that i like the game and care about my little hobos :)
