I can't handle playing first-person games without an inverted mouse option, so I had been hoping that an update would fix the initial release's lack of such an option. I was elated to learn that the 2.0 patch added just such an option, so I eagerly booted up the game, only to discover that the newly-added "invert mouse" option inverts not just the vertical axis but also the horizontal! The traditional WSAD-style controls have also been altered so that left and right are pan controls rather than strafe options. This makes the game pretty much unplayable.
I honestly cannot understand how such monumental design errors can make it out into the public's hands without someone somewhere in the process saying "hang on a minute here, this is now a totally different control scheme from just about every single first-person game on PC that's ever been released, maybe we should stick to the norm?". If you want to introduce a dearly-loved classic such as Myst to a new generation of gamers who've grown up with mouselook and WSAD controls, this isn't the way to do it.
