I originally played Myst
after playing through its sequel Riven
back in 1997 (17 years ago!) realMyst
was such a delightful bit of nostalgia and is definitely an improvement over the old game. If you've never played a Myst
franchise game, you may have difficulty adjusting to this playstyle. There are no enemies, no time limits, no experience points, no health bar, and no quest log. These games are visual art where puzzles must be solved to progress the story.
This is definitely a game that needs to be played. The graphics are improved, even if the polygon count is low. The ambience is spectacular (which is a requirement for Myst
series games). Best of all, the story is so good.
Note that the achievements don't unlock.
As an aside, I remember keeping an exhaustive set of notes back during my first playthrough in 1997. The Steam screenshot tool makes this so much faster. ;)
