Please port Myst to Unreal 4 in the future.
Seriously, Cyan, this is a horribly wrong port.

Yes, it is nice you have this game rebooted. But your engine choice was poor, your coding is obviously not backed by enough financing, and you updates are so pitifully spread out that no one really cares.

You guys need to take a walk outside. It's not 2005 anymore. Kickstart something like this if you need funds. Do something. Anything. Unreal 4 is the PERFECT opportunity to make these games look how they should. How they deserve to be played in this day and age.

It seems like it is your system which might be having issues. The game is complete and runs fine, but there are known problems with some graphics hardware. I can get excellent graphics and preformance on my laptop.

Also, there are a large number of incomplete games which have been released. KSP is one such game, and there are a number of others availible on Steam. Keep in mind that Cyan is still writing patches for realMyst Masterpiece as well.

EDIT: look at e.g. Myst for Nintendo DS.

LOL it isn't my system at all. This games runs like complete crap. MY system is completely clean and free of crashes, and completely up to date. I just said in another thread I run Skyrim with over 60 modules now and maintain near 60FPS with near endless terrain. NO bud, it isn't my system. This game runs like crap and looks mediocre doing it as well.

Repeat: this game DOES NOT RUN FINE. DO NO TRUST THAT LINE.

Known problems with some graphics hardware my ♥♥♥. I have a state of the art mid-highrange card overclocked that can basically do 4xSGSSAA on any game from a couple years back. I get 60FPS on basically anything WITH great AA. Myst right here is pumping out graphics like it's 2006. This game should be running 180FPS for me FFS.

My CPU is overclocked to 4.5GHz. i2500K. Enough said. This game should achieve 60FPS

Me thinks you have no idea what you are talking about. You are running a laptop saying performance is okay with this game lol? Right. This game or engine is simply poor progamming or poor design respectively.

The game does run fine, despite your objection to my statement. Please also note that I am trying to help you find what the issue is.

What are your complete system specs, as well as your OS version? I am aware that there are issues with some graphics cards, as reported in other threads here. The thing is, if you do have such hardware, you need to wait for a fix from Cyan. Different hardware manufacturers do things different ways, and not every single possible issue can be anticipated.

CPU speed does not play into the full picture for game preformance, you have said nothing about what your graphics hardware actually is.

The realRiven is not being worked on by Cyan but a different group. If you see improvements that can be made to this game you can let Cyan know about the bugs or other problems at their support site here;
http://support.cyan.com/

Cyan has confirmed that they have another update in the works to fix a lot of the problems. Many users are not having these problems you are, different systems seem to handle it better depending on different hardware setups.

I suggest letting TruePikachu help you out he is pretty knowledgable about these things, please note that ranting does not help anyone and the discussion board is mostly for users, Cyan does not check out posts here too often.

As I have said elsewhere on the forum I run an overclocked 770 4GB. This card should be running this game 60FPS solid at 2560x1440 and SMAA on High FFS.

Suggest letting someone help me out? Help me do what bud? I'm not some random noob. This isn't a problem with my hardware because I don't have any problems with this hardware lol. I won over 300 games and this one runs about as bad as any of them.

And what the hell are you talking about 'many users'? No one runs this game well. NO ONE. How many forum threads are about this game running like complete crap? Dude up here is running a laptop and you trying to tell me he is gonna help my desktop run better how? Stop acting like this is some high-end Witcher 3 game man. This game should be getting 60FPS SOLID across the board for anything better than a 660. ANYTHING. These graphics are dated beyond belief.

Some of just paid 10 bucks or so for this garbage. Excuse me while you leave the thread if you can't handle it. This developer needs to pay just a little more attention to its fans than an update every half year for a game that is optimized like crap.

You can try contacting Cyan's helpdesk for better assistance then myself. I wasn't saying it was a hardware problem (where there is faulty hardware), but rather an issue dealing with compatbility with specific hardware. Nearly all programs have such issues, it is mainly because there is no one correct way to do something.

As for the number of threads stating there are issues, it is likely just an oddity playing into how people are more likely to complain than to praise, coupled with either a vocal minority or widespread similar hardware. Things are not always how they appear on the surface (ironically, this is one of the lessons Myst taught me).

Since you have continued to be argumentive, however, I am not going to attempt to help you any further. But a hint: a quick search for the game title and the graphics card in a search engine pulled up issues on the first page.

Hint: there is nothing wrong with my system or card. This is just a horribly dated remaster, not remake, of a game we bought years ago. NOne of these issues are somehow fixed with this game by searching through this forum. It's a game engine thing. Something someone gaming on a laptop would have no idea about.

I suggest you do more research, or learn how games can function differently on different computers, based on set-ups. Try some other forums or as Pikachu mentioned, contact Cyan. However, being whiny and unwilling to listen certainly will not help your issue.

For the record, the game runs well for me.
Khronikos Jul 10, 2014 @ 2:34pm
Runs well for what? A game made in 2006?
Twitch Jul 12, 2014 @ 4:10am
I'm not going to read all those pages of discussion, but I would just like to point out that this game indeed does run much ♥♥♥♥♥ier than it should. However, a big part of that is their choice of engines in the first place: Unity is garbage even with the best coders behind it.
jaustin Jul 22, 2014 @ 6:52pm
I would be happy to just complain about the performance but the controls are just so horrible and can't be customized that I can't even get that far. Did someone completely forget we have this new invention called the "laptop" and what migtht be mediocre desktop mouse controls are completely unusable? How hard is it to have a customization screen?
Garamoth Aug 2, 2014 @ 6:00pm
I'm quite disappointed as well: miserable performance considering the graphics, poor stylistic remaster visual choices and an annoying control scheme... I mean, it's point & click, how can you mess that up? It's disappointing to see Cyan's masterpiece treated like this.
YukonRob Aug 2, 2014 @ 6:31pm
This game does not run fine. I am unable to see any interiors and it is slow as heck and a brand new alienware.
Khronikos Aug 3, 2014 @ 3:59pm
It's disappointing because we ALL know how awesome a true remake of this game could be. If they would put more time into this it could still be good. Updating some textures here and there is the stuff that anyone and their mother can do. Cyan seems to be made up of very limited talent at this point in time.

I would have assumed they could have done better on a limited kickstarter budget after this friggin' mess. Let's not forget HOW LONG AGO this released lol. I'd easily pay 30 bucks if they outsourced this game, the game MYST itself, to a competent team that could do better with it.

Imagine how awesome Myst could be in something like Unreal 4. I'm drooling already and considering not even touching this version.

For the record: the Riven remake IS being developed on Unreal 4 and is looking fantastic.
