Either I'm not skilled enough to beat it or it's just too hard. The area you fight it in is too damn small and I always die. Any tips or hints on beating it?

Use Nature Form to prevent the spikes from hurting you, IIRC. I haven't played the game for a couple of years, so I don't remember how exactly the fight goes.

All I have is Beast form and Energy form. I also have Li, but he's downright useless in this fight. Beast is useful for dodging his sucking attack, but that's it.

Well, I'm really not that far. I just beat Mithalas, and I went into the Veil. Then I found Li, and then the Sun area. You can go through the game in any order I believe.

Yeah, you better get Nature form. Try to find some health eggs while you're at it. I believe there is one around the middle layers, where you near where you find Li (though there might be a miniboss or something before it). By that I mean it has some sunken ship textures in the area.

you better get nature form its very helpfull also you might want to get fish form

I ate a +1 energy shot and defeated him really quick in energy form. Spam that right button.

That and I had practiced letting Li shoot the boss while I dodged, but that is really slow and I my dodging skills can't keep up after the boss changes. My point is that it helps if you know how to dodge in the later stage.

Bottom line though, you need to +1 your shot to get through it quick enough.
