Boulder placement resets
I've played Aquaria before, when it first came out. I don't recall having a problem with the placement of boulders before. I used the Bind song to move a boulder to get into a new area then when I come back the boulder was back - not where I left it. Twice now a boulder that has spawned back has prevented me from getting out of an area I got into and thus breaking the game.

Often you can get past it anyway. Try binding it and then swim through the edge if it. The game will allow you to squeez through even if it looks like you can't get past (note that it needs to be bind while you do it).

Okay, that seemed to work. Pretty sure this a big though and wasn't there originally.

I don't think boulder positions are saved. You can go right through a boulder if you have it bound (as mentioned above).

You can also use the dash (or how ever the fast swimming with space is called) when having the boulder bound, to get through it.
At least it worked for me.
