btw, did you waited for the shuttle/lander to land or did you try to get out mid-flight?
a fix is surely incoming, especially with the new editor options: spawn locations in coop are now manually set instead of being defaulted to the lander, so in theory you could make a custom scenario in the editor where you have an already landed MDV.
sure, trying around with the editor might be confusing at first, but if yo have any questions, feel free to ask^^
maybe i'll try to release a working multiplayer scenario in the future?
also, coop in general is flawed right now, since there appears to be a crash related to structure ownership. there is much to it but the short of it is that clients crash when they try to build/deconstruct.
also, i suppose that the lander does not come with machinery, which means you wil be stuck there without any means of producing ressources. i solved this problem by making a custom scenarios, where i provided basic ressources and equipment at the landing site.
On my most recent attempt, everything actually went fairly smoothly, except for exiting the shuttle. I couldn't get the hatch to open no matter what I did. Then, while I was just standing there staring at it, it opened up and fell off its hinges all my itself.
From there I was able to check some things out, at least. The MDV is fully stocked with food, water, suits, tools. I took the rover over to the nearby supply pods and found a 3D printer, solar arrays, resource cans, etc. Looks pretty good.
I think my next step will definitely be to fire up the editor and build a scenario of my own. Then I'll be able to experiment and figure out exactly what's happening when something goes wrong.
also, play with the time setting 1:12 or 1:24, or else you will have a really long night, in addition to completely ignoring food and water.
also, 1:60 almost instantly kills you, since you need to constantly eat stuff to keep going :D
The MDV isn't already landed in CO-OP or COMP modes. There are spawn points which have been added into the game giving the MDV a more precise landing instead of landing on a cliff or hill. Sounds like your game version or save is outdated now.
Odd. The game is freshly installed after being away from it for a couple years. I've verified the game files, too. I was using the default multiplayer scenarios. Perhaps the MDV completes its landing while I'm still in the ready room. I dunno.
I was planning to play by myself in multiplayer mode just for a sort of sandbox experience. I've since discovered that I can get the sort of sandbox/experimenting play style I want by just playing in the editor, so that's cool.
I'll probably have my very own starting scenarion on the Workshop once I have time to play with a little bit of scripting.
Yeah, you will land in the MDV if you start a multiplayer game.
Hatches use airlock levers now. The one in the MAV is slightly buggy.
Yeah, that square hatch between the cockpit and mid-deck(?) of the MAV is downright dangerous. It doesn't always open when I want it to, but sometimes opens up and falls off its hinges with no provocation.
On a similar note, the hatch to enter the MAV from the launch scaffolding is a little bugged too. Standing to the left of the hatch, there's no room to step around it once its open. Standing on the right side, I can't seem to reach the "sweet spot" to press E and open it. It took me a few attempts to swing the hatch open without getting in its way.
I don't think I have any use for the MAV until I learn the scripting anyway, so meh.
Even with the occasional glitch and unexpected death, this is still really cool to play with.
Indeed. It makes me sad all the players posting hate or frustration. I simply love this game.
