The Infamous Launcher.exe Crashes

I have 178 hours into this game and love it. It just started crashing on me during battle near the end. I Googled and found all the info about it crashing back in 2009 with similar messages. But, supposedly a patched fixed it? Why is it doing it to me now after so many hours in. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am also getting launcher crashes. It happens every few hours of gameplay. Sometimes I am able to restart without a problem, other times the crashing persists every time I reload the game.

Windows 7 ultimate edition on a Thinkpad x220t.

It seemed to be just in that part of the game. Once I was able to get past that battle, I didn't have any more crashes.
